I am a Cpl. in the Army and just returned from Iraq. I carried my shotgun all year on my back in your shotgun scabbard, and it worked great! I was glad to have it around several times, and it proved to be an easy way to keep the shotgun handy for the squad. Thanks for your great product, and for your support of our troops!!

Another happy customer
Bob Miller

When I was stationed at Camp Pendleton I was in Weapons Company 3/5. The unit made us t-shirts with the 3/5 logo/emblem/crest, "Consumate Professionals". I was honorable discharged in 1999 and the t-shirt has been long-gone. I searched a couple of web site to find a shirt with the logo/emblem/crest but there was no luck. It didn't take me long to search this site before I found what I was looking for. When the shirt arrived it was better than what I expected. I love the t-shirt and wear it with pride and often. Thank you SpecialForces.com

Most Sincerely,
Bryan P.

Thank you!!!

Your Shirts are the best.

Dear SFG,

Thank you for being so prompt with my order, and the refund as well.

I thought a little constructive thoughts were in order.

The "HRT" boot knife is well constructed. I had to "hone" the edge though, both sides,to get it up to spec.

As for the "GI USMC Combat Knife"......Well, it wasn't really a K-Bar, at least not one that I've ever seen. It read "US", and above that it read "Ontario". No worries though, after I used a ceramic sharpening stone on both the small back edge and the full length edge, I'm quite pleased with them both. Oh, I almost forgot, both were very pretty well balanced.

I'll be purchasing again from you in the near future.

Ed Whiteside

Dear Special Forces

I received my order i have to say that is better than i expected! Thank you and you'll hear fom me soon.

They turned out GREAT!!!!!! Thanks. I will be back for other things.

Thanks Folks. As always you have been most polite and professional. Best wishes for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

OMG! That looks awesome! Is there any logo on the front? Can I buy these off the website? I'm sure a lot of SWCC guys are going to want these!

Thank you,

Dave's Message
With Christmas upon us and a season and new year ahead which many say, we Americans may and any free men be in for a rough economic ride, the strength of our individual resolves stems from a spirit of warriors who have shown us men of war, having survived the harrowing trials of what war and combat throw at us, makes for an what might first seem to be an odd but somehow, more sweeter gift. A gift that is a strange melding; of having been under fire and being being of pure and noble spirit and true character, despite ones skills set, makes the test of survival one of the most precious gifts we can have can... especially when we survive unscathed.

Within American and modern warrior lore a parallel has often been made, between those who perform gallantly when caught by surprise and do survive often possess similar attributes as a Special Forces warrior. But what binds a common conscript thrown into the fire, to a seasoned or professional elite warrior?

Is it a call to duty that only a free volunteer citizen warrior can learn from and realize, he to, has an innate sense of survival centered in the belief of in traditions of western Christian principals?

Since December has the spirit's of Noel, Father Christmas and jolly ol' Santy Claus; and the cold crisp wind of clarity which is the something behind those symbols which is greater than physical man can through these beliefs in a higher Christian bearing, can be all one needs to continue being faithful and holding the line in combat.

Although our modern holiday of Christmas was not celebrated as we do until 1919, its December spirit has found its way into all forms of battle fronts from tropical paradises and steaming jungles and is a binding element to have a warrior carry on when everything tells him to stop!

Although no statistic can be found regarding the December Christmas spirit having anything to do with never giving up against insurmountable odds, this phenomenon has often been behind the code of most western warriors of Christian faith, who have seen what is often referred to in British parlance, as"the bloody miracle of Christmas".

Dec 7th
But what about when Christmas maybe only a few days away, but it causes one's focus on battle to be secondary in the mind's eye? Is there a divine catalyst that allows for those who survive the combat and lapse into legend, to be nobler than those who did not survive? Or is it all dumb luck?

Every era in our history and our future has, had, or will have, nasty bloody and trying times, both on and behind the lines. While not to diminish the recent 9-11 unpleasantness and current war and battle fronts that have resulted, The 20th century conflicts of World War Two and its post era have left us legacy of knowledge to learn from and pass down which are on their own stories of the miracle of Christmas... whether they be green horns or commandos.
"I was so mad, I didn't have time to be afraid"
~ Lt. John Finn (USN Ret. ) 1909-2010, The longest living Medal of Honor recipient from Pearl Harbor

The United States entry into World War two began on December 7th 1941. Generations of Americans have marveled in tales of the recently late great (then) Chief Ordnanceman John Finn inwardly angry, yet outwardly and calm and accurate as he manned his training stand mounted.50 Browning at Kannohe Bay and emptying thousands of rounds into the sky fill with Japanese Invaders. Miller 2Or Navy Mess Steward Doris (Dorie) Miller who was untrained with weapons, and on board USS West Virginia when he manned a pair of unattended.50s during the attack fired till he ran out of ammunition at the attacking Jap planes to the receive the Navy Cross. Or the Army Air Corps Lieutenants Ken Taylor and George Welch who scrambling to get their P-40' Tomahawks into the sky to engage the enemy. Or the only commissioned officer on board the USS Nevada, a young Reserve Ensign Joe Taussig Jr. , who got his battleship to steam and underway during the attack but then was commanded to beach her instead. Or how the first shot the that the first shot America fired in World War two by crew members who were"tin can"citizen sailors reservists, of the Minnesota Naval Reserve, manning the USS Wards' (DD-139) 4inch, 50. caliber No.3 deck gun which they fired onto the Japanese Class Midget submarine at 06:37 AM Hawaiian time -- 1 and 1//2 hours before the aerial attack on Pearl.

But the real untold stories of the now mostly very late 80's and 90 + year old unsung Hawaiian shirt wearing Pearl Harbor Association Members whose numbers have rapidly diminished from when they were long ago were just volunteer airman, sailors soldiers and Marines on that infamous day, are the tales of that morning that speak of miracles.

Art Heriford Jack Hammet, Art Gregory and Bob Thomas are four such men who survive as of this writing in 2010.

All just sailors on December 7th 1941, their tales are part of a few that will follow that are, the bloody miracle of Christmas.

Art Heriford originally from Oklahoma had joined the Navy on his 18th birthday, April 17th 1940. By Sunday morning December 7th 1941, he was a was a fire control technician 3rd class on board the USS Detroit next to Light Cruiser USS Raleigh and Battleship USS Utah and moored on ford Island in Birds eye view of Battleship row.

Heriford at 88 years old, recalled how, by arriving at the tropical paradise of Pearl Harbor and Hawaii earlier in 1941, "... a new uniform of the day of white shorts and tee-shirts became uniform standard crew wear on quiet lazy Sunday Morning's..." He remembers the serenity of Pearl, particularly on that one Sunday when all hell broke loose and that sound of general quarters snapped him running confused to his battle station.

Heriford immediately took to his post high up in the crows nest fire control station of the Detroit, as strafing and bombs were being dropped by 'Jap"planes on to other nearby ships. Bullets from Japanese planes strafed Detroit's decks with relatively little damage and headed for the richer targets of the USS Raleigh and Utah, Heriford directed anti-aircraft fire from Detroit, whose manned and firing 8 'Ma-deuces' (.50 watercooled Brownings Fifty caliber) and the larger six, three-inch-fifty-caliber 'ak'- 'ak' guns into wave after wave of Jap dive bomber and fighters. Only a few bullets hit Detroit as Heriford remembered vividly how his spot on range-finding had the crews fire accurately back at the onslaught of Jap aircraft Heriford was cold and shaking... and fighting mad as well, when he saw the Arizona go up:

"It's hard to believe, eleven hundred and seventy-seven men could go up that fast with bodies from the concussion with bodies tossing into the air three times the height of the of the mast towers," said Heriford. Then another nearby ship went up -- the Shaw.

He added: "When the magazine for the USS Shaw went up it was like no Fourth of July you could ever imagine, right before my eyes... "

But Heriford and his crew held there course during and after those moments, never wavering in their counter attack, instead pouring it on. Detroit's.50's, fired 1400 rounds per weapon with no water cooling. . the barrels which miraculously kept accurate during the attack." Later in the war a similar firing of.50 water cooled Brownings caused tracers to tumble, but that morning the were spot on accurate," recalls Heriford. The Detroit' s crew sustained fire, brought one plane down that hit the seaplane tender USS Curtiss. They were strafed stem to stern but only had one bullet hole in one of the smoke stacks and on that day were the luckiest ship in the navy... By 12 noon, with most of the fleet decimated including the nearby Raleigh and Utah, they were put out to sea to chase after the Jap fleet.

"[My Fire control crew and I] figured it was a one way trip so me and the others in my three man fire control crew each removed 20 dollar bills form our wallets and lit cigarettes with them as we figured we were on to a suicide mission and never were coming back," says Heriford, returning to Pearl Harbor on the 10th of December to escort convoys.

Divine Providence? Perhaps...

"I can't imagine how I survived," says Art Gregory, 95, of Huntington Beach. "I guess I was given a second life." Gregory never had set foot aboard the USS Arizona. But as fate would have it, he was walking up her gangplank just as 183 Japanese warplanes were bearing down on Pearl Harbor. Gregory served aboard the USS Vestal, a repair ship moored to the Arizona. On the morning of Dec.7, 1941, a Sunday, he walked over to say hello to an old friend.

Climbed the gangplank. Saluted the flag. Told the officer-of-the-day his business. That's when something caught his eye: Five planes dropping from the sky, straight at him. "I could see them coming down the harbor," he says." As they got lower, I could see (a bomb) coming off one and it was coming at me."

Ari 3Within minutes, eight bombs struck the Arizona. One found her forward magazine, igniting a furious explosion that killed more than 1,000 men. It launched Gregory off the deck. Over the Vestal. Into the unknown... The explosion toppled the Arizona's foremast; choked the sky with smoke; and blew shrapnel and body parts onto the nearby USS Nevada, where Bob Thomas was trying to unjam an anti-aircraft gun.

"I'll never forget it," says Thomas, 90, of Orange [California]." The concussion blew me off the gun mount and onto the deck. That's when it first dawned on me, 'This is real. They're trying to kill us. '" For Thomas, the worst was yet to come. As the Nevada pulled away from Battleship Row, he saw the carnage - the Arizona, destroyed; the USS Oklahoma, upside-down; the USS West Virginia, ablaze and sinking; the USS California ablaze and listing; the drydocked USS Pennsylvania, ablaze.

2nd wave"I thought, 'My God, we're the only ones left. '" For a moment, it seemed the Nevada might escape. The skies grew quiet. The bombing ceased.

Then came the second wave - 170 more Japanese planes roared into view. Three dive bombers unleashed bombs on the Nevada. The first: wide. The second: wide. The third? "At that moment, I knew I was going to die," says Thomas.

His first thought was," Mother." But his first words were, "Take cover!" The bomb struck the deck, not 20 feet away.

About this time, Art Gregory awoke in the water - now black with oil and flaring with fires. Bodies, some living, some dead, were everywhere. Gregory made it to a small motorboat, which he regularly used to ferry officers from ship to shore. With some 40 men clinging to the sides, Gregory piloted her to the liberty dock.

"When I got there, I wasn't going back," he admits." I was going to get off and run to safety like everyone else." That's when the second wave of planes arrived. "They started machine-gunning those guys on the dock," Gregory says." They were knocking them down. We had no guns, nothing." He stayed in the boat and motored back into the thick smoke - so black he could barely navigate... "

Warrant Officer Jack R. Hammett, U. S. Navy (Retired) , was Navy Pharmacist's Mate 2nd Jack Hammett on December 7th and his bird's eye view of the attack tale was a bit different. After spending a romantic evening dancing with his wife, they awoke in their apartment in the hills above Honolulu awoke to the attack in disbelief to the sight of Torpedo's and Bombs decimating Battleship Row in Pearl Harbor, realizing this was not a drill. Ashe raced to the Naval Hospital at Pearl, he began a week of work on the various gut wrenching casualties that were pouring in.

He witnessed the carnage: "... One man walked into the nearby Naval Hospital holding his intestines in with his hands. Another walked in - missing a foot. Another bled profusely after squeezing out a porthole of the overturned USS Oklahoma. "That's that kind of stuff we saw," says Jack Hammett, a pharmacist's mate who helped the wounded, consoled the dying and stacked the dead in the basement. "Guys were crying and screaming. Some were burned. Some in shock."

More than once, he told a dying man, "You're OK, you're going to make it," when he knew they wouldn't. During one break, he stepped outside with others to look at the devastation in the harbor. "Doctors, nurses, corpsmen, we were just standing there crying like babies," says Hammett, 89, of Costa Mesa. "We began to realize the enormity of the moment." It meant one thing: war... ."

jack Hammett
But another thing happened to Hammett he soon recalled how he was assigned to have been on the Arizona as a mate part of her Pharmacists detail but he had received furlough to get married and was not to have reported to her until Monday morning December 8th... He was destined to become the newest crew member of the Arizona and the loss of her stays with him to this day 70 years later. .

Back on the [USS]  Nevada, Bob Thomas prepared to die. But the 250-kilogram bomb crashed through the deck before detonating. The explosion sent a golf-ball-sized rivet through his right leg, breaking it above the knee. A piece of shrapnel sliced open his right wrist.

"I saw a 12-foot hole in the deck," he says." Right on the edge was one of my men. He was on fire."

Five more bombs brought the Nevada to a halt, forcing her to breach in the shallow water off Hospital Point. Thomas rarely gets emotional when talking about the war, but he breaks down when talking about his young ammunition carrier who died without fanfare in the explosion that Thomas survived.

"He was just doing his job," Thomas says, "but he was a hero in my eyes... ."

Fewer than 100 Pearl Harbor survivors remain in Orange County. One is Art Gregory, who spent all morning 68 years ago today picking up survivors and bringing them to shore - through the smoke and burning oil. He saved hundreds of lives. Then [he] spent three days picking up the dead. "It wasn't no fun," he says." They had to give us fishing nets because their limbs would break off in your hand." Japan's attack destroyed 18 U. S. warships and 347 planes and killed more than 2,300 men. But try as they might, they couldn't kill Art Gregory - another hero just doing his job."

Art Heriford would recall in a recent, November 2010 interview conversation how the first Christmas as tested sailor was:

"We escorted a convoy of evacuees from Pearl to San Francisco. One ship had the injured from Pearl to be shipped to the naval hospital there. We arrived into San Francisco Christmas morning day. I got on the beach [naval parlance for going ashore] and immediately went to Western Union, where I telegraphed a message home that all 4 of my brothers in the Navy at that time [His four brothers were all Sailors on Dec 7th] were okay and alive, as I know my mother and father would have wanted that comfort. I then had a great Christmas Dinner and found a dance hall and danced the entire Christmas night way before returning to ship and heading out with another convoy the next day. "
USS Detroit CL-8
From San Francisco, Heriford and the Detroit headed back into the war zone. They delivered gold and silver bullion from Corregidor to Pearl to Frisco, and by September 1942 they escorted two convoys to Pago-Pago in the Western Samoa Islands, ferrying Marines bound for Guadalcanal. Detroit later sailed from San Francisco on 10 November 1942 for Kodiak, Alaska, to become flagship for Commander, Task Group 8.6 (TG 8.6) , and patrol between Adak and Attu Islands to prevent further enemy penetration of the Aleutian Islands. Detroit and Heriford remained unscathed the whole time:

"That Christmas of 1942, I was in Dutch Harbor... and was very cold as compared with the tropics of Pago Pago and Pearl. But we had a 'Jim-Dandy' of a mess steward who put on a Christmas dinner with all the trimmings and fixings... But I do recall a bunch of the crew got on the beach with bootleg whiskey and got terribly sick and almost didn't make it back aboard the ship... "

By 12 January 1943, Heriford remained on board Detroit covered the unopposed landings made on Amchitka to gain a base from which to cut the Japanese supply line and after repairs at Bremerton from February-March, returned to patrol duty to intercept reinforcements trying to reach the Japanese garrisons on Kiska and Attu. In April, she bombarded Holtz Bay and Chicago Harbor on Attu, returning the next month to join in the assault and capture of the island. foggy and freezing as compared with his past exploits, and Heriford recalls that time vividly:

"The day after we bombarded Attu we engaged a Jap Merchant ship from Attu and Kiska; sunk a ammo ship and then the next day I watched from my observation post as a couple submarine torpedo tracks cut across [Detroit's] Bow. It took me until noon the following day to convince the skipper that indeed we had been fired upon by a Jap sub's torpedoes... needless to say the water up there was very cold... We had a man go overboard and though he was in only 5 or six mutes he was purple when we fished him out and taken down stairs and feed some brandy which he later recovered from... but he was purple!"

In August, Detroit with Heriford commenced the bombardments of Kiska, then covered the landings of 15 August which revealed that the island had been secretly evacuated. Detroit remained in Alaskan waters until 1944, operating with the covering group for the western Aleutian bases. Ironically Detroit would survive the war without Heriford who had transferred into a Instructor billet. She was one of two ships at the surrender of Japan in Tokyo Harbor, who were in the attack on Pearl Harbor. Detroit received six battle stars Before being undignified by being decommissioned and sold for scrap in 1946.

Heriford who by then, was long transferred into a training arm of the Navy before the war ended. However by 1946, he had returned to sea duty during the CHICOM Nationalist Chinese civil war in 1946, he in Tsing- Tao harbor China, His Christmas bonus that year was witnessing as the Red Chi-Comms fighting the Nationalist Chinese as he was eating another fine cooked meal while assisting in the US interests.

Now in his late 80's Heriford believes if he were in today's Navy "... I'd be dropped overboard at the three mile limit." But he adds that any one serving in a military uniform deserves the best we can give them, no matter how good or bad a conflict is.

Divine Miracle or just dumb luck?

CHRISTMAS and Allied COMMANDOS on Other Fronts during WW II... saw many interesting Miracles:

Flying Tigers on Christmas Day

india ChristmasAs a people and nation we were men of conviction back then, and no matter how tough the odds Christmas was something that bound us, even in the most remote and forgotten theaters of World War II.

"[Erik] Shilling also feels that the Flying Tigers name probably came from an incident in the bar at the Silver Grill in Rangoon. A UP article with the by-line McGrath and a 23 December 1941, Rangoon dateline relates a conversation in the bar in which a recent air engagement was being discussed by a number of correspondents. The AVG had just downed a number of planes and someone remarked that"those bastards fought like tigers." An unnamed woman, reported to be from Life Magazine, is said to have replied," Yeah, Flying Tigers", and the name stuck."

The 1st American Volunteer Group (AVG) were the U. S. A. 's first covert secret operations outfit to be used in overseas modern clandestine warfare. Organized, deployed and trained via a very classified and sensitive Presidential directive almost a year before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec.7, 1941. AVG would become legendary as the Flying Tigers.

A truly special force of fighter pilot commandos, AVG only fought in combat for the first seven months of the U. S. A. in the war -- from Dec 1941 until July 1942 when they were commandeered by t he U. s. Army Air Corps. This was a time In WW II, when the U. S. was not too victorious but they were kickin'-ass-and-takin-names over the skies of China. . They operated far into 'Injun'-country'with out the luxury of U. S. or Chinese resupply... [We do not mean the country of India but rather the apropos pejorative slang that, while not being completely phased out is the expression of how we Yankees [U. S. men-at- arms] even 2010 Yankees when at war, like to refer to any bad guys territory. Ironically most AVG personnel were routed to and from India via the deployment extraction phase of their operations. ]... and Erik Shilling was one of there first. . and last pilots to fight wars of a covert nature.
Flying Tiger Erik Shilling Sitting top Left 1941
"I just used what paint was available at the time. The blue came from the Chinese crew that was painting the Chinese rondel. The red came from the guy that was painting the Hell's Angel girl and I used the paint from that." ~ Erik Shilling

The AVG first operational mission was three days after Pearl Harbor on 10th December 1941 With Tiger Erik Schilling Flying a P-40C with painted Shark mouthed did a photo Recon spy mission, deep behind Jap enemy lines. With two other planes they flew from Rangoon to Bangkok to photograph Jap docks and surrounding airfield strength. . Being fired upon, they evaded Japanese planes by climbing chilly 26,000 feet and returned unscathed to Rangoon.

20 December 1941, 12 days after Pearl Harbor (local time) ! The first combat for the secret A. V. G. occurred over China's southern Yunnan Province on December 20, 1941. In their first combat, a combination of the First and Second Squadrons shot down nine out of ten Japanese bombers with a loss of one A. V. G. aircraft. The second engagement brought the Third Squadron onto action over Rangoon on December 23, with the R. A. F. flying beside the Tigers. The total haul of Japs was six bombers and four fighters. The R. A. F. lost five planes and pilots and the A. V. G. lost four planes and two pilots.

Then, on Christmas Day, two waves totaling 80 Jap bombers and 48 fighters hit Rangoon. The A. V. G. knocked down 23 of them, the biggest victory of the war, with six more Jap planes believed shot down over the Gulf of Martaban. The A. V. G. suffered not the loss of a single plane.

That Christmas Day action achieved notable success during the lowest period of the war for U. S. and Allied Forces, giving hope to Americans that they would eventually succeed against the Japanese. The Tigers were credited with destroying almost 300 aircraft while losing only 14 pilots on combat missions... They're always to be remembered and honored for their first MOST Secret Covert American force and their exploits.

"What made the Flying Tigers such an effective force? Shilling feels that it was Chenault," ... not because we were such hot rod pilots. It was Chenault's training, his tactics and his superior knowledge of the Japanese pilots and planes that gave us the edge." The AVG racked up an impressive 70:1 kill ratio with 296 confirmed victories." No other outfit has ever come close."

Later days
Erik Shilling March 28, 1916 ~~ March 18, 2002- at the controls of a P-40, 60 years after his Christmas day mission
Schilling, after the war remained a CIA Pilot with their CAT (Civil Air Transport)  airlines and would be the first  and last of the original A. V. G. Flying Tigers to be operational pilot in  combat as he flew many  secret flight ops behind the lines in Laos, from 1958  to 1967... unscathed...  before rejoining his old Flying Tiger buddies in the corporate leadership of Flying Tigers Airlines (the large cargo company which would later merged into the Air fleet for FED EX aviation operations. )

Again, dumb luck or -Divine intervention ?

1943 CBIBut before WW I was over Shilling transitioned  from combat pilot to dangerous special operations cargo missions re-supplying land locked forces by 'flying-the-hump': the treacherous high altitude Himalayan flight path between India and China that the vulnerable C-47ra cargo planes pushed flying's limits on. Part of its danger, were the 20,000 + feet altitudes with nasty air conditions they had to negotiate which the Himalayan mountains offered C-47 air crews. By Christmas 1943 he may have crossed paths with two crew members who are equally as special. . although they don't recall flying with him.

Elmer and Delmer (yes their real names) Nielsen, of Burbank and Santa Clarita California are in 2010, 95 year old twin brothers who were also in China-Burma-India theater as Army air crew members of the same Army Air Force C-47 during a couple Christmas's during WW II. The Himalayas may not have been the north pole but for these twin brothers flying at that altitude, it might as well have been! At aged 95 in 2010, they can recount their many flights over the Hump, ferrying supplies to the distant outpost of Kumming for various special forces outfits. Delmar mentioned how he got dysentery one Christmas in Calcutta, 1944. It's still with him in 2010! But he looks great not a day over 70!! Elmer is right there to match him. Neither of 'em got even a scratch in all their 'flying-the-Hump' exploits!

Again, Miracle Divine intervention or dumb luck?

"I don't think I really understood it -- until the Americans dropped the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki... "~Jens Anton Poulsson \'Heavy water." A sinister term. Un-natural. Eerie," as Winston Churchill put it... ... and in 1940, the most precious substance on Earth -- the critical element in controlling an atomic chain reaction. ' ~CBS reporter Chales Kuraut in 1994

Team Gunnerside1942
From time eternal while many warriors went to war on a January 1, having never seen another December 8th or another Christmas, we American warriors do not hold a monopoly on such fate. Nor do we on the divine intervention or miraculous luck that has been blessed upon ourselves or our allies. During World War Two, one of our most staunch allies somehow had this phenomenon happen, during the secret mission which arguably defined the nobility of all allied secret missions of that war begging the question why are some Christmas miracles truly miracles: Like the British SOE/ Norwegian Special Forces attack against the German Heavy water Program in Norway of 1943.

Gunnerside reconing Vemork plant
Their legend and myth gets buried by SF historians but these 'Heroes of Telemark,' who were some of the toughest, hard and fit commandos were as American as they are Norwegian. Simple, educated, smart fit, outdoorsmen they were, tasked with the impossible-- to literally prevent a future from happening that is hard to fathom. Like many others with the touch of a lucky yet divine hand, whose exploits are to this day near unbelievable and great examples of the miracle of Christmas during combat, Their legend gave inspiration foretold of a future which generations of truly free men would carry on in future generations and future oppressions. The Norwegian heavy water sabotage of World War II was a series of actions undertaken by native Norwegian Special forces of the British Special Operations Executive (SOE) Operative- saboteurs to prevent the German Atomic Weapons program from acquiring heavy water (deuterium oxide) , which could be used to produce Atomic weapons, was, in this Senachais (i. e. yarn weaver - story teller) view, one both luck and a Christmas miracle combined. Because of the David versus Goliath odds of the missions logistics.
Norsk Hydro
Norsk Hydro Plant Sabotage Route

In 1934, at Vemork, in n the Telemark Region of Norway Norsk Hydro (the National Norwegian Power company) built the first commercial plant capable of producing heavy water as a byproduct of fertilizer production. It had a capacity of 12 tons per year. When WW II commenced the Allies raced to remove the heavy water supply and destroy the heavy water plant in order to inhibit the Nazi development of atomic weapons.  Raids were aimed at the 60-MW Vemork power station at the Norsk HRjukan waterfall in the Telemark province (state) , of Norway. The station was a target of mythical and mystical l proportions, right out of science fiction adventure story. Perched above a 600 foot cliff above a freezing river, it was fueled by half mile waterfall and was heavily guarded by its new landlords from the Third Reich.

Team GROUSE training in Scotland highlands shortly before insertion, fall 1942
On 19 October 1942, a four-man team of SOE-trained Norwegian Commandos parachuted into Norway. From their drop point in the wilderness they had to ski a long distance to the plant, so considerable time was given to complete this part of the mission, known as Operation Grouse. This plan, unlike prior failures, included the team studying and memorizing blueprints.

The team landed at Fjarefit in Songadalen, and prepared to receive British Engineer commandos of Operation Freshman at Mossvassdammen Norway, but Grouse Skithe Freshman operation was a failure, as the two gliders crashed and any survivors rounded up by the Nazis and executed. The Grouse team remained the recon element for an immediate follow on operation --called Gunnerside--that was a almost pure Norwegian in a tactical sense and SOE trained team, which would after much toil would be very successful. The Gunnerside team joined the Grouse (later renamed Swallow) , and the combined team succeeded in the destruction of all the heavy water equipment and stock at Vemork in February 1943. This team of SOE-trained Norwegian commandos, by succeeding in destroying the production facility was later evaluated by SOE -- and much of the allied special forces historians -- as the most successful act of sabotage in all of World War II as it stopped any German Atom bomb from ever reaching production.

BlizzardBut the success these 'Heroes of Telemark' achieved, did not come without great suffering difficulty and hardship. Despite the hardy, undaunted tough characters of the fine Norwegian operators and all the moxie and best support the Allies could give them in the 1942/43 battle space, it was beyond luck, that any success it ever came to be. Conditions, frankly sucked.

"Alone, outdoors in the Norwegian winter, awaiting supplies and reinforcements, Paulsson and his men had to struggle to stay alive... For months, they skied through sub-zero temperatures and biting winds, dodging German patrols, and searching for food."
~Charles Kurault

They were outnumbered, out gunned and truly unsupported as the fiercest winter up till that year on memory, prevented airdrops too them this had them rely on their pre-war outdoorsmanship and commando skills luck and again, that unwritten divine Providence, which is the spirit of Christmas that somehow makes the impossible, possible.

Jens skisThe Norwegian Grouse team comprised of: Second Lieutenant Jens Poullsson member of SOE. trained and commanded Norwegian Independent Company 1 (KOMPANI LINGE - in Norwegian) and Operation Grouse party leader, Arnes Kjelsstrup, Knut Haugland and Claus Helberg were amidst a long arduous wait in their mountain hideaway from the German forces. After arriving in October 1942 Christmas would be let us say - interesting. Their supplies of food had dried up and Nazi's were everywhere they could go easily get some. Remember the key word here was easily:

"A man is he who goes on,
until he can go on no further, and then goes on -- twice as far." ~Jens Poulsson

"... The Weather had been appalling, and none of them could remember a winter to equal it. Day after day, week after week, the mountains had been a mass of whirling snow. When it became milder there was fog as thick as gruel, and sticky snow on the surface. Even the rare fine days were bitterly cold. Conditions were hopeless from October till far into February.

2nd Lt. Jens Poulsson
When things were at their darkest Jens consoled himself with a couple of lines from [ [Rudyard] Kipling ['s poem 'If'] :
... hold on when there is nothing in you  Except the will which says to them:"Hold on !"  ~ From 'Skis Against The Atom' by Knut Haukleid pg.92

Grouse team was, subsisting on moss and lichen and fish meal porridge during the freezing winter months atop Norway's highest mountains. Then, just before Christmas day 1942, Poullsson, nearly starving from lack of game in their high desolate region scouted forwardon skis amidst howling gales to hunt for food. Delirious from near starvation until, just before Christmas, the hand of God touched this noble Norwegian named Jens:

Cabin outside"About Christmas, the boys had Moved to the Svensbu hut and thence forward the food position improved. Two days before Christmas Jens Shot his the first reindeer. After that they had plenty of meat, but they were badly in need of other kinds of food.

Luckily there was plenty of work to do, but it was a struggle for existence --- a ceaseless fight for food and to keep the wireless service (Radio Comms with their London HQ) going. They had to be clear all the time as to what action they might expect from the German side. There was no time to ge on one another's nerves, however, and it was quite remarkable what good friends they had been all the time...

Claus went out reindeer hunting He always wore a happy smile when he came back, weary bloodstained and dirty, but with a hundred pounds of meat in his sack.

They had lain in the dark and amused themselves by delivering lectures to Cabinone another - on"tact and good manners," for example, or"the art of shooting reindeer." They learned to value small things in life." a lump of sugar, a pat of butter, or a crust of bread made us happy," Jens told us." We learned what good comradeship meant." It was a time I'd be sort to have missed...

... As the winter wore on the grouse boys made themselves fairly comfortable at Svensbu... they cooked meat and porridge in the evening so that the food only had to be heated up in the morning. They had had a reindeers stomach lying in he driven snow outside the hut, so that they could cut off large pieces throw them straight into the cooking-pot. The contents of a reindeers stomach were green and good eating and full of vitamin C...

... The boys from Gunnerside went out for a run on their skis... Across the ice towards Haalehovd and the Angelbutjohn shone hard beaten runs; and it was up there that the Grouse party had found the best ground for reindeer."

[~ From 'Skis Against The Atom' by Knut Haukleid pg.92]

Knut Anders Haukelid, a he looked then
Another Miracle was the inclusion of Grouse team colleague, Knut Anders Haukelid (1911-1994) was team Gunnerside's executive officer. He was born in Brooklyn New York to Norwegian parents working in the USA. He had a dual citizenship and returned to Norway for his formative years. Once there besides being a scholar and athlete, he too, like Poullsson was a lifelong mountain-man-- good on skis and with a rifle and to hunt. He later came back to the USA attended Massachusetts State Collage and later back to Europe to University of Berlin and at the out break of WW II, was a Norwegian English and German speaking Engineer -- and like fellow operative Poullsson--Joined British SOE and Kompani Linge and ultimately being selected to Operation Gunnerside for the heavy water sabotage.

DrawingBut between the initial attack on Vemork Plant, Allied bombing raids, and organizing resistance Haukelid too,was alone and starving in the mountains of Telemark... Shortly before the next Christmas of 1943 he would twist his knee while caught exposed upon the Glacier plateau in a the exposed blizzard conditions, dozens of miles from any friendly locals. Nonchalant and matter of fact, his stoic nature applied the survival he needed In his own words:

". . It was impossible to walk any farther. I found a big stone and crept underneath... So there I lay. Winter was coming on. No one knew where I was. The farmers used to hunt reindeer in the same area, but that could take a long time. I had tea, sugar and salt. No mountaineer travels without salt. I crept into my sleeping bag and went to sleep. There was some dry juniper bushes around. For some days I could get hot tea. I knew I was right in the middle of a good reindeer trek, and after about a week I shot a young calf. It came to near my habitat. Again it was the reindeer that saved myself and my future descendents."

[~ From 'Skis Against The Atom' by Knut Haukelid pg.171]

Needless to say the divine intervention and miracle of Christmas and of reindeer meat may have come from a similar guiding hand. By Christmas of that year, supplies were plentiful and life better:

Einar Skinnarland
"... It was Christmas, 1943. On the day when he [Einar Skinnarland Vemork Agent radio Operator] had had his last contact with England before Christmas, we thought he might send a greeting. It was a sparkling clear, brilliant winter day. When Einar had sent all his messages he added the two initials"MX"(Merry Christmas). An Answer came back immediately from England. A short but welcome :"MXT"(Merry Christmas thanks). They were thanking us for our Christmas wishes from Norway.

On Christmas Eve we brought in some small boughs to make a Christmas tree. We sat indoors at Bamsebu munching chocolate, eating reindeer meat, and using our valuable battery to hear a Christmas program on the wireless. We had stolen a gramophone from a hut and we put a few records on; there were not many, but each of us had one or two of which he was very fond. Not long after Christmas we became tired of each other's pet records that I smashed his favorite to pieces and he mine.

On Boxing day we went down to Vaagslid for a party. We were wearing our Norwegian uniforms, and the Vaagslid people treated us with the hospitality due to the King's [King of Norway] soldiers. We had taken with us chocolate and other good things also tobacco. We spent the night there for the village was snowed up and we could not be taken by surprise"
[~ From 'Skis Against The Atom' by Knut Haukleid pgs.171-172]

Well, I went down to theCharges bottom [into the hold of the ferry] , with the [explosive] charge --- which would blow out two square meters of the bottom of the boat." ~Knut Haukleid

Haukleid would in 1944, lead the final ultimate sabotage of heavy water with his Norwegian co-patriots, sinking the heavy water transporting ferry boat, SF Hydro on Lake Tinnsjo, which prevented the last heavy water from Norway to reach the German Atom bomb program. These actions were followed by the Nazis elected to cease operation and remove the remaining heavy water to Germany.

The Nazis would not have their Atom Bomb and Christmas would continue to come all because: "One young, Brooklyn-born Norwegian had sunk Germany's atomic program... Today, in Norway, the names. . Haukleid... Ronneberg... Poullson. . and Helberg... are honored in the memory of the nation... Wherever you live, you should know these names, too. You should. These are the names of a handful of exceedingly brave men, who -- 50 [Editor note: now 66] years ago --... may have done nothing less than save the world. ~Charles Kuralt

Again, Divine intervention or dumb luck?

Sometimes the Christmas spirit finds you when you're least expecting it Chief John Pitts Spence (USN Ret. ) is another Great American you may have read about here at S Voice of the Soldier. As a Navy Gunners mate and hard hat salvage diver rate, he was the first sailor, soldier, airman, marine or guardsman toSpence be trained to dive as a combat swimmer Combat diver -or what we like to call a frogman - In the United States. In fact he helped define the word. He was Americas First Frogman during World War II to be trained to dive the classified OSS Maritime Unit Lambertsen Rebreather (LARU) SCUBA. The LARU inventor, a then 19 year old medical student Christian Lambertsen [the father of the word SCUBA and coined the term in 1940] under OSS /Marine guard, secretly taught him. With U. S. A. secret operational tempo increasing much by December of 1943 Spence was on his way to England as he advance man of the OSS Maritime units highly classified L- Unit Amphibious operational swimmer Frogman outfit.

John is a very stoic proud and no B. S. fellow all business, but kind Southern gentleman, then and now. When he flew into a very dark and blacked out London on Christmas Eve. Spence took it all in stride, following his orders to his escort who would find him quartering his escort in the then, very un jolly London. As his British escort led him by foot through darkened London streets in a maze of what seemed to be a blacked out maze to him it seemed to be the last place, Christmas would find its light.

John would recall how suddenly they arrived at a blacked out doorway. As the door opened he was introduced to the Jewish family who told him his superiors had asked them to take him in on Christmas and feed him a meal. It was humble but very lavish at the same time. . especially when he found out that the meal they had provided him and made him feel the Christmas spirit start to fill him, cost them a years of saving and supply in food. They being not Christians yet knowing he this sailor was far from his family welcomed him as if they were his. He spent a long evening with them and his mind was zillions of miles from the near suicide mission he was there to set his team up for. When it hit him that that is exactly what Christmas is all about.

"I was this escorted to a home in war torn London. A Jewish family had saved their rationed food and prepared a meal that was truly magnificent for a sailor who was unknown to them; who was of no relations to them. Though I have long forgotten their names It was a most special Christmas for me." ~John Pitts Spence, 2000

Indeed for within a week, John was making cross channel reconnoiters into Nazi occupied France to scout out E and E routes for his Units later classified mission. He would survive the mission and war without injury. Did his Christmas dinner bring a spirit on to him to remain safe?

Again, Divine intervention or dumb luck?

What is Rhodesia ? Not what ! Where?

If you're a young shooter or operator who has never heard of the former country of Rhodesia or its Selous Scouts, its just another case of an liberal education system gone amuck!

Rhodesia was unique,in the ways that Switzerland, Isreal, and the United States are to the world. Free men were not denied the right to bear arms and public expression. And like those two nations, her special forces were pretty much like ours filled with out doorsman who were no police men trying to be oppressors.

Rhodesia was a British Colony that went independent in the mid 1960's and fought to survive as a free nation until U. N. (United Nations) Marxist African leaders, forced Britain to negotiate a dissolution of Rhodesia and its free citizens turn the reign of power to a rigged general election which brought the white hating Marxist racists to power, Robert Mugabe and the country became Zimbabwe.

The Selous Scouts founding commanding officer leader The recently Late Great Ron Reid Daly (1928 -2010) once describes a special forces man to be:

"... [A] Special force Soldier has to be a certain very special type of man. In his profile It is necessary to look for intelligence fortitude and guts potential, loyalty, dedication, a deep sense of professionalism, maturity- the ideal age being 24-32 years - responsibility and self discipline... "

Reid DalyReid-Daly was born in Rhodesia and before the Scouts founder, was a former member of the famed C Squadron of Rhodesian SAS. Rising Form a corporal to retiring rank of Captain in 1973, Reid -Daly's whose long career started in 1951as a Volunteer Rhodesian SAS trooper to Britain's Malay Emergency Campaign and continued into the many border wards with Rhodesia. In 1973, his old friend and former commander General Peter Walls who was head of asked Reid-Daly to return to duty and form Rhodesia's Selous Scouts, as an elite special forces unit to deal with the growing threat of nationalist Guerillas in more effective. Reid Daly created this highly professional unit from scratch.

Former Lieutenant General and Commander of the Combined Operations Headquarters of the Military of Rhodesia and later Zimbabwe, George Peter Walls, twice in his illustrious career was notable for ensuring his troopers enjoyed miracle of Christmas.

Walls was tall, broad-shouldered and a man of action who liked to lead from the front, After serving with the Brits in WW II he went on to join the Rhodesian SASC Squadron as well, becoming it s commanding officer in Malaysia in 1960 where he met Reid Daly --and later authorized Reid-Daly's Selous Scouts.

UDIThe first great African Christmas tale of Walls is how after he had rose through the ranks where by December 1964 he was commander of the British Colonial Rhodesian Light Infantry (RLI); this was the period where for the new year of 1965 Rhodesia and its natural born and native citizens (Black and White) were to be declaring independence from Whitehall rule, come January 1965. A popular slogan back then was"Rhodesians for UDI !"(Unilateral Declaration of Independence).

Well, During the 1964 Christmas party at RLI headquarters, Walls authorized paper party hats with a slogan RLI for UDI embossed on them which caused him to be reproached by his commanding Brigadier General, That's ok, Rhodesia great Christmas present is that she declared her independence less than one year later and became an independent free nation in 1965.

Again, Divine intervention or dumb luck?

The second Christmas tale of Walls has the story go something like;

"It was the night before Christmas,in a dark nasty war torn African night, where the only creatures lurking, were combative and seeking out a bloody fire-fight! While Rhodesia Special forces were deep into the Mozambique regions, Things had gotten dicey, rough and ready for these troopers; success seemed far from reason! These, Rhodesia's troopers, while outnumbered, did stand and were holding their ground;silence the only sound in their heads When up in the sky did the distinct drone of piston turbines, cock their ears, shift their eyes and erased all frowns! They took to glance, to see, oh' such a miraculous sight, of blossoming chutes dropping down wonderfully toward their tough old nasty fight! Was it Santa Bearing Ammo? Rockets, guns or grenades? Nope! Just their General named Walls, with gifts of 'Kris Kringle' and accolades And My oh My What a belly laugh did these, his men receive! -"

General WallsYou see fair reader, Walls now a general, himself parachuted into an area of northern Mozambique that Christmas with a consignment of roast turkey for his men. However while the turkey helped to bolster the troops morale -the fact that both general and fowl landed in a large deep puddle and emerged covered in mud- it is now SF legend that even the most harden somber trooper laughed his you-know-what off at the site this one of a kind yule tide greeting!

Sadly for the families of both General Walls and Lt. Col Reid Daly, 2009 was to be their last Christmas. They both passed away in summer of 2010.

Definitely Divine intervention for the two stalwart souls!

"You'll see them today in cemeteries... A few men here. A few there. Some with walkers. Or wheelchairs. Honoring their comrades... "

[~ From"Surviving Pearl Harbor"By TOM BERG December 04, 2009|, Published in The Orange County Register]

Heriford and other survivorsIn December 2010, Gregory, Thomas, Hammett and Herrimen still all survive have been lucky to enjoy the miracle of that first wartime Christmas' and many

more up to present day where these late 80's and mid 90's survivors have continued to be blessed by their destiny. Jack Hammett went onto becoming a Navy Chief Warrant officer and, retiring to become a police officer and is the former Mayor of Cost Mesa California. Arthur Heriford of Los Angeles, serves as the national president of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association. Both alive, spry and kicking. . Elmer and Delmar are still here...

JohnJohn Spence is still with us in good health at 93. . However many of their those like them mentioned herein, are gone... Most of the A. V. G. 's are gone... Only a few remain As noted Lt Col. Ron Reid-Daly and General Walls just left us Pearl Harbor, Commandos at Christmas presented to you here, may seem all different at first glance. Yet they are events which often share a similar miracle that is that indescribable spirit which is everything Christmas. What is a miracle exactly?

The timeless bond of determined free men of good will to using force of arms to defend the will of other free men. .

Nazis had God. as do Islamo fascists. But Nazis and Islamo Fascist never have understood how Christmas is about faith and love and not war. . even you go to war to defend that belief. Nazis found out how God was not on their side in 1945 or in 2010 as the National Socialists in the U. S. A. have been by and large defeated by free election. . Islamo fascists will see a similar fate if they keep up there tempo against the west...

If any parallel is to be lifted from these just read tales, to take into your battle fronts across the globe today. . or with you to work as the USA goes through tough times, perhaps it should one of faith. No matter how hellish things get. Stay your course stand your ground and enjoy those small wondrous things that come at you when your least expecting them or feel they are to be deserved.

We as proud western infidels with a Christian heritage - be we in a attack on Pearl Harbor, the Pentagon or the remote desolation of sub zero Norwegian mountain tops or a Marxist filled African bush, appreciate miracles to happen that are all what is behind Christmas traditions. Traditions that Nazi's --old and new--, Japs, Marxists, Islamo-fascists and heathen utopian liberals in general, despise. Be they a Christmas turkey with all the trimmings or broasted reindeer venison and moss soup or just holding your hands in prayer that you survive the battle or the day... all responsible free citizen warriors of the few free nations left on earth be you green horn young sailors or hardened professional soldiers, fight the good fight to share in this miracle called Christmas because turkey and reindeer meat and Santa Claus are better and more noble than a world peace that defies all freedom Besides, turkey beats rice and rat meat any day! Regardless its the waive of God's hand that allows for us to continue to enjoy them.

We should Always Remember any who once spent a Christmas under fire or did not return from a Christmas under fire when there efforts made our world better and give back to their memory by never allowing a repeat of what they fought and died for to never repeat.

Especially those real Heroes of Telemark who have now all departed us. . Back in 1994 the late Charles Kurault said of those Norwegian heroes why we should remember them all great and small:

Team Gunnerside and Grouse Vets 199
"Today, in Norway, the names. . Haukleid... Ronneberg... Poullson... and Helberg ...
are honored in the memory of the nation... Wherever you live, you should know these names, too.

You should.

These are the names of a handful of exceedingly bravemen, who -- 50 [Editor note: now 66] years ago --... may have done nothing less than save the world."

We too should rememeber them all... We should.

CandlesWhether we are 18 and full of vinegar, or 95 and full of memories, always remember why we should ' Always Remember Pearl Harbor' and vigilant noble spirit which forged a indomitable spirit to carryon celebrate as things got tougher is similarly vigilant to the commandos who gives up his christmas so we mayall continue to cherish ours.

Live the Mele Kalikimaka -- Hawaiian for Merry Christmas --- spirit and may it be so to you all, with its blessings no matter how meager or vast making your lives richer for it - with Ho-aahs! Hoo-yahs! and a good night!

This was actually in the news a few days ago.....
As the Chalk Leader for my flight home from Afghanistan, I witnessed the following:
When we were on our way back from Afghanistan, we flew out of Baghram Air Field. We went through customs at BAF, full body scanners (no groping), had all of our bags searched, the whole nine yards. Our first stop was Shannon, Ireland to refuel. After that, we had to stop at Indianapolis, Indiana to drop off about 100 folks from the Indiana National Guard. That's where the stupid started.
First, everyone was forced to get off the plane-even though the plane wasn't refueling again. All 330 people got off that plane, rather than let the 100 people from the ING get off. We were filed from the plane to a holding area. No vending machines, no means of escape. Only a male/female latrine.
It's probably important to mention that we were ALL carrying weapons. Everyone was carrying an M4 Carbine (rifle) and some, like me, were also carrying an M9 pistol. Oh, and our gunners had M-240B machine guns. Of course, the weapons weren't loaded. And we had been cleared of all ammo well before we even got to customs at Baghram, then AGAIN at customs.
The TSA personnel at the airport seriously considered making us unload all of the baggage from the SECURE cargo hold to have it reinspected. Keep in mind, this cargo had been unpacked, inspected piece by piece by U.S. Customs officials, resealed and had bomb-sniffing dogs give it a one-hour run through. After two hours of sitting in this holding area, the TSA decided not to reinspect our Cargo-just to inspect us again: Soldiers on the way home from war, who had already been inspected, reinspected and kept in a SECURE holding area for 2 hours. Ok, whatever. So we lined up to go through security AGAIN.
This is probably another good time to remind you all that all of us were carrying actual assault rifles, and some of us were also carrying pistols.
So we're in line, going through one at a time. One of our Soldiers had his Gerber multi-tool. TSA confiscated it. Kind of ridiculous, but it gets better. A few minutes later, a guy empties his pockets and has a pair of nail clippers. Nail clippers. TSA informs the Soldier that they're going to confiscate his nail clippers. The conversation went something like this:
TSA Guy: You can't take those on the plane.
Soldier: What? I've had them since we left country.
TSA Guy: You're not suppose to have them.
Soldier: Why?
TSA Guy: They can be used as a weapon.
Soldier: [touches butt stock of the rifle] But this actually is a weapon. And I'm allowed to take it on.
TSA Guy: Yeah but you can't use it to take over the plane. You don't have bullets.
Soldier: And I can take over the plane with nail clippers?
TSA Guy: [awkward silence]
Me: Dude, just give him your damn nail clippers so we can get the f**k out of here. I'll buy you a new set.
Soldier: [hands nail clippers to TSA guy, makes it through security] To top it off, the tsa demanded we all be swabbed for "explosive residue" detection. Everyone failed, [go figure, we just came home from a war zone], because we tested positive for "Gun Powder Residue". Who the F**K is hiring these people?
This might be a good time to remind everyone that approximately 233 people re-boarded that plane with assault rifles, pistols, and machine guns-but nothing that could have been used as a weapon. Can someone please tell me What the F**K happened to OUR country while we were gone?

Spectacular Helicopter Static-Electricity Phenomenon
In the middle of a desert, a military helicopter creates a stunning show while initiating an impossible static electrical discharge,  spectacular phenomenon for all the lucky viewers on site. Luckily someone had a camera, and probably, a permission to take photos of this amazing light show, so that we may enjoy this as well. It would be great if I had one of those and a desert with lots of sand in the air. Meanwhile, enjoy the photos.

Word of Truth
Doom and Gloom
The Word Of Truth - Alive and Powerful
By Rev G.J. Rako
LTC (Ret)

Many people are predicting doom and gloom; the collapse of the U.S. economy, the devaluation of the U.S. dollar, hyper-inflation, scarcity of food, riots in the streets, and all the rest.  While these predictions may be an historically accurate depiction of the fall of a nation, they are not a reason for panic.

Jesus Christ controls history!  Individual and national discipline is only administered by God, Himself.

Heb 12:6  For whom the Lord loves He disciplines, and He scourges alive with a whip every son whom He receives.

God's purpose in discipline is not to cause pain, or to bring hopelessness.  He disciplines to wake people up, and to get us to change our thinking.  If you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, adversity in your life always brings opportunity.  Adversity in the life is an opportunity to trust God for your every need.

Rom 8:28  And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

It is an opportunity to claim the magnificent promises He has provided to stabilize your thinking.  Knowing that He knew about your situation in eternity past, and provided every solution to every problem you would ever have in this life.

2 Peter 1:4  For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.

Many were encouraged after the mid-term elections, hopeful that the country would be put back on the right path, freedom and prosperity restored.   Putting our trust in politicians is the very reason we are in this mess.  Every state, local, or national complaint you can imagine is caused by politicians.  Politicians cannot deliver us.

Jer 17:5  Thus says the Lord, " Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind And makes flesh his strength, And whose heart turns away from the Lord.

Man will always let you down, he will always disappoint.  Human solutions are never the solution.  Only divine solutions can deliver an individual or a nation from impending doom.  Human solutions will always be the exact opposite of the truth, or what should be done in any given crisis.

Rom 1: 21-22 For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools,

Both political parties have been taking us down the road of destruction for about a hundred years.  This march to national self destruction has accelerated at break-neck speed the last couple of years.  Many of us have been horrified at the reckless abandon of establishment principles in our government.  Our allies are bewildered at the policies emanating out of Washington D.C.  Our deliverance is in the hand of almighty God.  Only He can put "Humpty Dumpty" together again.

You may be asking yourself, "what can I do?"  After all, I am only one person.  The divine solution always begins with you, just one person.  If you are an unbeliever, the answer is;

Acts 16:31  Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved.

John 14:6  Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

Acts 4:12  "And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved."

If you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, then your priorities must change.  Take your eyes off yourself and your problems and focus on Him, the giver of all things.

Heb 12:2 Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Rom 8:32  He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?

Rom 8:37-39   But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

2 Tim 4:7  I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith;

Making the Word of God a priority in your life, by consistently learning it, in the power of the filling of the Holy Spirit is, "fighting the good fight."  Believing the scriptures you have learned, and applying that Bible doctrine to the circumstances of life is "keeping the faith".  Doing this over and over throughout your life is, "finishing the course."  The Apostle Paul is stating that we must grow to spiritual maturity in order to fulfill the Father's plan for our life.  Spiritual growth gives us peace, contentment, and mental stability under all circumstances.  This is the promised land of divine solutions for meeting our problems.

No, we are not helpless and hopeless.  We are strong, and confident, and excited to live in this time of uncertainty.  The Scripture is our strength, and our comfort, and through which, will be our deliverance in the Lord.

Deut 31:6  " Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you."

Deut 31: 8  " The Lord is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed."

We must grow in grace and the knowledge of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18).  He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Heb 13:8).  He is the only solution for you now and for all eternity.  To Him be the glory, both now, and forever.

The VALOR Project needs your help...

There is a training trend in law enforcement that is gaining popularity rather quickly; I refer to it as "Tactical Lifesaver" training. This concept was brought to us by the military version known as "Tactical Combat Casualty Care" or TCCC.

TCCC has been developed and refined in the military since the Vietnam War. The recent wars in IRAQ and Afghanistan along with advanced medical technology have furthered the development. The TCCC has proven to dramatically save lives on the battlefield and there is no question in my mind will save cops lives in the future.

In 1997 Los Angeles Police Officers responded to an active shooter incident in North Hollywood. Three civilians and nine officers were shot. The incident lasted 39 minutes and in the end seven civilians and eleven officers were shot and injured. The suspects shot 1100 rounds from fully automatic AK-47's, fully automatic Bushmaster .223's and a .308 H&K semi auto. Besides having trouble neutralizing their adversaries officers were unable to get emergency medical support and paramedics to the injured officers and citizens inside the hot zone. For those 39 minutes several officers and civilians were trapped with no medical attention.

In this situation most E.M.S. personnel won't deploy to render aid in an unsecured environment such as a "hot zone". This leaves the potential for an untreated injury to quickly become fatal. A simple hemorrhage from a thigh or arm can bleed out very quickly. An untreated sucking chest wound could become critical or develop into  "tension pnuemothorax". An unconscious officer's airway may become compromised and become fatal. These injuries are potentially fatal if left untreated for more than five minutes. However, these injuries are treatable in the battle space by the officer himself or any officer with "Tactical Lifesaver" training  .

When the military developed TCCC they were able to utilize battlefield statistics to aid in the development of tactics currently used by our Warriors defending our freedom. These tactics have saved many soldier's life's that may have not been saved without their use by the combat soldier himself.

TCCC is taught to all combat soldiers so they can perform self or buddy aid on critical injuries that may render death if left untreated while waiting for emergency medical care. Injuries like I mentioned previously that any law enforcement officer can suffer.

Trainers in law enforcement have taken the TCCC tactics and modified them to benefit our uniformed officers. However, we face a significant problem and we need your help!

Here's the issue we face; until recently we in law enforcement didn't have the database available to aid researchers and trainers in the development of lifesaving tactics specific to law enforcement that was available to our military counterparts.

Matt Sztajnkrycer, MD, PhD, has taken his own time and funds to develop the non-profit "VALOR Project". Matt is a well published author on TCCC and is a great friend to law enforcement.

The goal of the VALOR Project is to empower officers and saves lives though evidence based research. The VALOR Project web site www.VALORProject.org is primarily to serve as a data-gathering portal of Law Enforcement Near-Miss Database other wise know as "LENMDB".

The goal of the project is to collect information on incidents of violence against cops. This information is crucial in the success of the development of Tactical Lifesaving skills.

We at the VALOR Project are dependent upon the volunteer information you officers provide on yourselves and your partners. Your information may help save an officers life.

If you have been a victim of violence as a police officer or you are aware of an incident and you can provide some basic data please visit the web site and or the questionnaire at this link.

I would like to thank Doctor Sztajnkrycer for his valiant and selfless efforts with this project. I am confident that his knowledge and dedication to save lives will benefit law enforcement.

Good luck & stay safe,
Sgt. Glenn French

Sgt. French also is the president of the Detroit Special Operations Group tactical training company and founder of the Detroit SWAT Challenge. Glenn is a columnist with www.PoliceOne.com, and his column is the"SWAT Operator".

Warrior's Wisdom
The True Source of
Greatness for a Nation

Something we as a nation forgot generations ago is Greatness does not come from race or culture it comes from respect for law and authority. A good example in history would be the Republic of Rome. The Romans were born out of the Etruscans and although they were an extremely smart people it was their respect for law and authority that made Rome great. Now in the United States we have come under the rule of man where there is no respect and obedience to our Constitution and Law. We are now witnessing the results of this with loss of freedom, loss of prosperity, loss of privacy and a president who acts more like a dictator and a government that has become tyrannical with no restraint on its appetite for more power and money. The same is true of man that it is his values and principals that makes him great not his race or culture.

We have started with this past reunion, in Las Vegas to interview the first group. This coming September 13th through the 17th we will be interviewing the second group. The stories, needless to say, are  incredible!

We are looking for support in this huge effort. So any interested parties can contact me at my email address I can provide additional information.
Aesop's Fables

The beasts of the field and forest had a Lion as their king. He was neither wrathful, cruel, nor tyrannical, but just and gentle as a King could be. During his reign he made he made a royal proclamation for a general assembly of all the birds and beasts, and drew up conditions for universal league, in which the Wolf and the Lamb, the Panther and the Kid, the Tiger and the Stag, the Dog and the Hare, should live together in perfect peace and amity. The Hare said, "Oh, how I have longed to see this day, in which the weak shall take their place with impunity by the side of the strong." And after the Hare said this, he ran for his life.

"It's the most sane and moral weapon ever devised. It's the only nuclear weapon in history that makes sense in waging war. When the war is over, the world is still intact."
~ Samuel Theodore. " Sam"  Cohen,  1921-2010, Inventor of the Neutron Bomb

"It's important that those service members who risked their lives, sacrificing their own safety to protect others, receive the recognition they deserve and continue inspiring the next generation of Americans..."
~ Duncan D. Hunter (R-Alpine), a Marine veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan To Hunter [ and any one we respect at Special Forces Gear News], the
award is more than a medal; it's a message to the nation.

"...and now we have the situation in Ireland. Now, I know that the stupidity and greed of Irish politicians has a lot to do with this. They should never, ever have joined the Euro. They suffered with low interest rates, a false boom, and a massive bust. But look at your response to them. What they are being told as their government's collapsing, is that it would be inappropriate for them to have a general election. In fact, Commissioner Wren here said they had to agree their budget first before they would be allowed to have a general election. Just who the hell do you think you people are? You are very, very dangerous people indeed. Your obsession with creating this Euro state means that you're happy to destroy democracy..."

~ Nigel Farage, the leader of the UK Independence Party and co-president of Europe of Freedom and Democracy (EFD), spoke out against the EU for allowing member states to get into debt and bailing them out at the expense of the ordinary people of Europe. All this in the name of cohesion, he suggests, marks significant threats to democracy.

SANTA CLAUS(1959) - Mind-blowing Acid trip of Mexican masterpiece of garbage Shot in that rival to cinema-scope "Mexi-scope"-! Features Santa teaming up with Merlin of Camelot against the Devil in lousy sets with even worst actors than the previous film!

Reveals how the Mexico Intel joined Soviet KGB & GRU Soviet during to cold war to influence youth with subliminal anti Santa Claus themes of strong Soviet influence to Mexican and U.S. children. Plot almost makes you want to not like 'Santy Claus' [ From a joint MI-6 and Mexico Russian FIS Intel File,Data reveal sand also expose Santa Claus' sub Earth Orbit North Pole castle( read that early Space Station) and black ops programs to keep him there. Also present day Child rights activists trace there aversion to Santa Claus' traditional ability to "see you when your sleeping" as the long provoked uneasiness in there sick liberal minds as "Santa Claus gives considerable attention to Santa's surveillance of children, and his ability to see into their dreams may be particularly unnerving."Late in life the American Director of the dubbed English version of this Film was targeted by IRS Probes due to his retaining in that version film of Santy Claus remaining a good guy amidst this twisted tale.

In this eerily familiar truly classic and epic yule tide greeting and only lightly fictional account of former Special Boat Service trained Naval Commander James Bond 007, hunting down and fights off a younger Ernst STAVROS BLOFELD at his heavily guarded Swiss Alpine redoubt , for his various prior and varied financial extortion of 1the Great Britain and the U.S.A. and prevent him from ruining Christmas,by stopping his evil biological warfare gifts he plans to pass on to us all, via very good looking 'angels of death hotties'. 007 Stops he and the angels, but does not succeed in killing Blofeld, who later takes out revenge on 007 and the love of his life...Terrific Commando assault Sequence and action footage. 007 Becomes a married man...ho-ho-ho.

[Note:Via a unnamed analyst at MI-6, they confirm this is the most watched and respected of the 007 fictional film series]

DAzBond was real life World War Two secret Royal Navy Commando officer and Ian Fleming chum, co-patriot Patrick Dazel-Job whom Fleming used Dazel-job as the physical inspiration for Bond as he was an expert skier Shot, boxer, climber sailor outdoorsman and diver. Though he did not drink, spoke several languages, and he, like Bond was only in love once.and married to her for several decades.

While villain Ernst 'Stavros' Blofeld. Is really international Financier and Statist robber baron George 'Soros', producers were asked to abandon the Blofeld angle which was paralleling George Sorosreal secret,

Spooky dudebehind the scenes real life - Running and funding various evil organizations which rival the fictional S.P.E.C.T.R.E. organization( such as the Tides Foundation,Acorn etc,et al.),A publicized lawsuit over the Blofeld character created by Ian Fleming and the men he plagerized deceased Irish Producer Kevin McClory and Screen writer Jack Whittingham, was orchestrated to take the public off the Soros scent, as the film story had plot devices too close to the classified truth of our last 40 years the Stavros was a rehash of Soros, as was the mans back ground with Communists and Nazi's. Because fictional Ernst Stavros Blofeld really is Soros; and both fictional and real person really, are self admittedly not fans of the Western capitalist sovereign nations, NATO and/ or Christmas (deep down a life long socialist - can't be for the collective good AND also love God, good free men with suppressed automatic weapons or San-ty Claus , now can he ?).

Ernst "Soros" Blofeld ( Georges real Identity was well known to Fleming was so very much close to the sensitive data, to our living reality that the George Soros' admission to the collapse of the British Pound Sterling Currency several years ago, was a direct arrogance knowing most would dismiss such a wild claim. The currency destruction was the result of Soros revenge against real 007 Dazel Job and MI-6s'still secret missions against his evil plot equal to Bio warfare in the Movie. Still classified joint CIA Russian FIS documents confirm via the Russian secert hacking hacking into to Global Warming HQ in London,in 2008 was to expose how the Global warming hysteria and data publictions to destroy industry was all by Soros evil empire also funds! [ it is tough for us to fathom how the media does not get this almost obvious parallel!]

DIE HARD(1986)

Who can forget the unknown New York Cop McClain preventing SEast German terrorist bank robbers from stealing untraceable securities ('Ho- Ho- Ho I now have a Machine Gun!'), as they ruin a perfectly plastic and sterile L.A. corporate Christmas party?

Villain Hans Gruber was really deceased Islamic terrorist Hans Hal-han, the adopted Son of George Soros who had him raised in proxy by raised by real life former Hitler gran Mufti Al Huessani. In his Post war boarding school in Cairo for Islamo Arab Nazis with roommates attended by the late Yassir Arafat and Saddam Hussein. Because Soros was a Jew and wanted no ties that could condemn his vast evil Business and caper cabal, he did not having any direct contact with the half german- half arab Hal-han, who later joined the Red brigades and Bader Meinhoff .FBI and NSA sources say the Incident was based on a Hostage take over in Panama City during Christmas in the early 1980's where by most of the corporate guest were saved and Ha-han and his robber team killed by the visting Miami DEA agent. For the Movies names and locales were shifted with the story sanitized as itis all still classified.

Tatang/Plain or SerratedTatang/Plain or Serrated
Only $99.95

"Tatang" is a Tagalog term of respect often applied to revered martial artists. In honor of this proud warrior tradition, we have made a knife that distills the savage cutting power of the traditional Filipino barong into a smaller, more versatile package. When gripped at the rear of the pistolgrip- style, thermoplastic rubber handle, the weight-forward balance of the Tatang's black epoxy-coated 1085C tool-steel blade gives it tremendous reach and chopping power. Choking up on the integral subhilt shifts the balance back for more controlled cutting, trapping, and backcutting with the sharpened false edge. Designed by edged-weapons expert Michael Janich, this formidable knife comes complete with a reinforced ballistic nylon sheath.

"Americans Squander their incomes
on themselves w
public needs are neglected"

THE SOCIETY IS AFFLUENT, we are told-but affluent only in the private sector, alas! The public sector-meaning the political structure which our society spends a third of its energy to maintain-starves. MR. and Mrs. America bounce along in their tail-finned chariot over a bumpy highway-the best road their government can build with the niggardly resources permitted it. They queue up to pay scalper's prices for tickets to the World Series with nary a thought that this indulgence contributes to the non-building of a political housing project in an already overcrowded city. That evening they dine at an expensive restaurant, and government, as a result, lacks the means to supply water for a dam it has just constructed in a drought area. Americans, in short go in big for private indulgence at the very time when the Crisis, long anticipated by the Certified Thinkers, demands The Opulent State.

Those who advance this line of criticism are perfectly correct on one point: if there is to be an increase in political spending, there must be a consequent decrease in private spending; some people must do without. The well-being of individual persons in any society varies inversely with the money at the disposal of the political class. All money spent by the governing group is taken from private citizens-who otherwise would spend it quite differently on goods of their choice. The state lives on taxes, and taxes are a charge against the economically productive part of society.

The Opulent State, fancied by levelers who criticize the Affluent Society, cannot exist except as a result of massive interference with free choice. To establish it, a society of freely choosing individuals must yield to a society in which the lives of the many are collectively planned and controlled by the few.

The state, in our affluent Society, already deprives us of one-third and more of our substance. Not enough! Say the critics. How much then? Fifty percent? A hundred? Enough, at any rate, so that no life shall go unplanned if they can help it. This is the ancient error of authoritarianism. The intellectual, from time immemorial, has dreamed up ethical and esthetic standards for the rest of mankind-only to have them ignored. His ideas may be ever so sound, but his efforts to persuade people to embrace them meet with scant success. The masses are too ignorant to know what is good for them, so why not impose the right ideas on them by direct political action? The state is too weak and poor? Well, make it strong and rich, he urges; and it is done. But when the state is strong and rich, it devours the intellectual together with his defenseless ethical and esthetic standards. The state act from political and power motives, as by its nature it must. It cannot possibly be the means of realizing the dreams of spiritual advance.

Every society devises some public means of protecting its peaceful citizens against the violent action of others, but this is too limiting a role for government to satisfy the censors of the Affluent Society. Such a government cannot legislate morality or enforce egalitarianism. The massive state interference they advocate is designed, they say, to protect the people from the consequences of their own folly, and the way to do this is to pass anti-folly laws to prevent wrong choices.

There are degrees of wisdom, true, and some people are downright foolish. This being the case, a lot of people will live by the rule of "easy come, easy go." They spend their money at the races when the roof needs repair, or they install color TV even though they are still paying on the motor boat. In a free society this is their right! This is part of what it means to be free! The exercise of freedom invariably results in some choices that are unwise or wrong. But, living with the consequences of his foolish choices a man learns to choose more wisely next time. Trial and error first; then, if he is free, trial and success. But because no man is competent to manage another, persistent error and failure are built in features of the Opulent State.

Pearl Harbor Day.

Why with  slect Musical Hits  that depict the innocenc and  no holes barred kick ass of the era , thats how !

Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day: Holiday Hits

1. "Remember Pearl Harbor"-Sammy Kaye & His Orchestra: This is most recently from the Radio Days soundtrack. This one speaks for itself albeit with a popular title.

2. "I Don't Want To Wait"-Paula Cole: This track will add a feminine voice to the mix and is a favorite of online experts when it comes to Pearl Harbor songs.

3. "Remember Pearl Harbor"-Carson Robinson: This one is completely different than the one done by Reid and Kaye. Passions were running high after such an unprecedented attack and people were Americans first and politically-correct second-if at all.

4. "We're Gonna Have To Slap The Dirty Little Jap (And Uncle Sam's The Guy Who Can Do It)"-Carson Robinson: This was the flipside to the above record. It was a simpler time; a "bad guy" was a "bad guy". Americans called a spade a spade. After losing all we lost in Hawaii, Americans somewhat demonized the Japanese in song. It was a rather blunt manifesto, to say the least, but at the time, who could blame them?

5. "Pearl Harbor Blues"--Peter "Doctor" Clayton: This song brought the event before a burgeoning rhythm and blues audience and will add another musical genre to your compilation.

6. "This Is Worth Fighting For"-the Ink Spots: This is considered one of the songs that help soldiers win wars. It may be a bit dated now but the sentiment still has some value.

7. ""Remember Pearl Harbor"-Eddie Howard: This is yet another noteworthy artist who jumped on the patriotic bandwagon after Pearl Harbor was bombed by the Japanese.

8. "When Is Pearl Harbor Day?"-Sunday's Best: Considering the title of this number you might want to have it as one of the first tracks in your mix. Then let the rest of the material help answer the question for your (ahem) less knowledgeable guests.

9. "Sullivan"-Caroline's Spine: This is an appropriate song about a woman losing all her sons at Pearl Harbor. The military has since changed policies regarding siblings due, in part, to people who questioned this type of tragedy. You can't dance to it but it's got a good message.

10. "There You'll Be"-Faith Hill: This adds yet another female vocalist to the mix as well as variety regarding era and musical genre. It's from the Pearl Harbor soundtrack.

11. "We Did It Before And We'll Do It Again"-Dick Robertson and his Orchestra: This was another war-time composition as Americans rallied 'round the troops (as opposed to constantly talking trash about their own country). Again, a lot of these selections are dated but you're sticking to a theme here, remember?

12. "Goodbye, Mama (I'm Off To Yokohama)"-Teddy Powell and his Orchestra: This one was meant to musically express the sentiments of all the young men going off to fight in World War II.

13. "Let's Put The Axe To The Axis"-Abe Lyman and his Californians: This particular war song included vocals by The Four Eton Boys and was meant to bring Americans together.

14. "The Son-of-a-gun Who Picks On Uncle Sam"-Carl Hoff and his Orchestra: The Murphy Sisters helped to make this record memorable by contributing their vocals.

15. "Chatanooga Choo Choo"-Glenn Miller and his Orchestra: This hit the top of the charts in the fall of 1941. In fact, this would be an appropriate opener to a musical mix as not only was it the very first record to be officially certified as a million-seller but (more importantly) it was the #1 hit single on December 7th.

16. "Remember Pearl Harbor"--Don Reid and Sammy Kaye: This is the original version. It was a spirited march that not only became a classic but was one of the very first patriotic World War II songs.

17. "Praise The Lord And Pass The Ammunition"-Don Reid and Sammy Kaye: This is perhaps the second most famous song of the time. According to online sources, the tune concerns a chaplain who was with some fighting men who were being attacked by the enemy at Pearl Harbor. He was asked to say a prayer for the guys firing at the on-coming Japanese planes. The chaplain put down his bible, manned one of the ship's gun turrets and began firing too, crying out: "Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!"

18. "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)"-John Lennon: While this one is obviously from a more recent decade it makes an appropriate point and could be used as a closing track if you're one of the folks who believes that no mix is complete without a Beatles-related track. (If you search enough on the internet you can find an early demo titled simply "War Is Over". Lennon did not immediately tie it into Christmas. As is, however, it can not only close your Pearl Harbor mix but foreshadow your next December mix-Christmas or perhaps the first day of Winter.)

moh1First living Medal of Honor awardee since Vietnam is a humble man

Washington, D.C.- At a historic ceremony both joyous and bittersweet, President Barack Obama presented Army Staff Sgt. Salvatore Giunta with the Medal of Honor, calling the Iowan "as humble as he is heroic."

The White House event Tuesday marked the first time in nearly 40 years that the nation's highest military decoration has been presented to a living solider from a current war.

HONG KONG (MarketWatch) -- China and Russia will stop using the U.S. dollar to settle bilateral trade and instead use the ruble or the yuan, though the move is not meant to signal a challenge to the dollar, according to reports Wednesday. Osama CartoonVenezuelan Uranium has Al-Qaida link

The recent disclosures that the Uranium cache, destined for the FARC, and seized by Colombian law enforcement authorities, appears to have originated in Venezuela begs the question: where else did the covertly-mined Uranium ore go? The answer will not surprise readers who are closely following Iran's illegal nuclear weapons development programme, but the identity of the facilitators is very troubling, because it may signal that another global terrorist organisation, Al-Qaida, was also a recipient of Venezuelan Uranium

manningBradley Manning is the man you want not Julian Assange

I find it rather strange that all the media attention is on Julan Assange the founder of Wikileaks. After all it was not Assange who leaked the documents but Bradley Manning a solider and intelligence analyst with the U.S. Army. He is now in jail charged with illegally copying classified documents. While Julian Assange founded Wikileaks he had nothing to do directly even with the reception of the documents. Other people run the organisation as Assange is often in hiding it would seem!

Reid DalyOBIT - Lt.Col. Ron Francis Reid-Daly

As it was a secret unit answerable only to the commander of the security forces, the Selous Scouts earned a fearsome reputation for "dirty tricks" in its exploits against guerrillas, a reputation that Reid-Daly, a long-serving professional soldier, sought - unsuccessfully - to counter long after the war.

Peter WallsOBIT - General Peter Walls

Walls seemed to adapt readily to the prospect of black majority rule. At Mugabe's request he undertook to help supervise the moulding of his own armed force with the motley legions of guerrilla fighters who had emerged from the bush after the protracted and ugly war.

paddyOBIT - Paddy Davies

His base was Corsica, following the island's liberation in 1943, where he was operations officer of the North African Flotilla, a cover name for clandestine boat operations. During 24 fast motor boat crossings to southern France and north-western Italy, his passengers included saboteurs, propagandists, politicians, escape organisers for fugitive prisoners of war and shot-down pilots, as well as several female agents.

MakahaOBIT - Flippy Hoffman

Russian soldiers execute Somalian piratesRUSSIAN NAVY CAPTURES SOMALIAN PIRATES

This videotape shows Russian Navy commandos on a Somalian pirate ship shortly after the pirates had captured a Russian oil tanker.  The Euro Union navy that patrols these waters would not interfere because they feared there could be casualties. All explanations are in Russian with a single exception of when a wounded pirate says something in English and the Russian soldier says "This is not a fishing boat.".  All conversations between the commandos are in Russian.  If you don't understand Russian, the pictures speak for themselves.

This is the actual film made of the surrender ceremony of the Japanese to McArthur in Tokyo Bay in September 1945.  Actual voice of the General.  Never been shown to the general public before.  We always saw the "stills" but never the film itself.

XM-25 VideoXM-25 Rifle in Action

Since the dawn of modern warfare, the best way to stay alive in the face of incoming fire has been to take cover behind a wall. But thanks to a game-changing "revolutionary" rifle, the U.S. Army has made that tactic dead on arrival. Now the enemy can run, but he can't hide.

Tactical Tips

The Academy Award-winning film The Hurt Locker has a particularly memorable scene involving a standoff between an American sharpshooter and an Iraqi insurgent, where both have each other pinned down behind cover. The American sharpshooter wins the standoff...

The Fact

25% (or 25 out of each $1 of sales.).7%. In most years actually less than 7 cents of each sale's dollar.
Who gets the largest share of corporation profits?
Most people say the owners do.
Actually the workers - they get 86%.

Many people think so.The facts are-NO. Compared to a good peace year, corporation profits on the sales dollar went down from $0.064 to $0.04.3 in the last war.
Do machines put men out of work?
Most people say yes.
NO. In the automobile industry, for example, one man and a machine do the former work of 5 men, yet 20 times as many men are employed. Machines well used reduce costs and prices which broadens markets and so provides more jobs.
Do top executives make too much?
Too many workers think, "If their salaries were divided among workers, our wages could be much higher."If all the salaries of the three top men in the country's biggest company were divided among that company's workers, it would take each worker in that company about three weeks to buy one pack of cigarettes with his increase.
Should taxes on corporations be increased?
"Yes," say many. "Soak the rich"
Truth is that high taxes already take so much money which should be spent in keeping machines modern, that 43% of America's machines are too old to protect tomorrow's jobs.
