SERE - Surival Escape Resistance Evasion -- School. If you don't know thats what the acronym means before you attend this school chances are it will beat you. Graduating SERE is never easy and legend has it that only one student ever beat and out foxed the Army Special Forces High Risk SERE Instructor Cadre. The rest of us do our dammdest, just to return from SERE with honor.
SERE Wartime level Course instructors must be a graduate of an approved DOD SERE High Risk Course. The course may be the Army, Air Force or Navy equivalent SERE courses. Instructors are knowledgeable and skilled in TRADOC approved systems approach to training methodologies, to include, evaluations, analysis,
design, development and implementation of individual and collective training plans, lesson plans, training scenario and POI’s.
They are Must excellent communicators, with public
presentation skills. Job Duties include map reading, land navigation, survival methods/techniques, preparation of fish and game, plant identification, escape and evasion, air/sea/land ex-filtration, cross cultural communications, physical and psychological aspects of captivity, clandestine
communication, escape planning, resistance to exploitation, interrogation and the U.S. Military Code of Conduct. Performance is in austere ;prison camp; environments and as prescribed in scenarios iterated by Course Cadre.
Our one color graphic depicts a blind-folded; yet one eye opened Death Head symbolic of the never give in attitude a student must have to survive. Crossed Tommahawks and a Randall survival knife behind him are indicators of the mimimalist tools you use to survive. The POW guard tower; is symbolic of the environs students are processed through. Concertina wire with the "Return with Honor" and "Instructor " says it all. Wear it with the honor you deserve.
