This cord, commonly called 550 cord or 550 paracord is the same cord used to connect the parachute canopy to the harness risers.
The parachute cord’s greatest strength is that it does not stretch, making it such an asset for outdoorsman and military members.
Each line of cord contains seven individual strands twisted inside the tough nylon covering. All together the strength of the cord is 550 lbs.
Paracord has many different general uses, from camp to survival. With a simple searing of the ends, you can prevent fraying, and each individual strand within the nylon cases can be used for a finish line, to bundle wood shavings, or build snares and traps. The uses are only limited by your ingenuity and imagination.
