I am a Cpl. in the Army and just returned from Iraq. I carried my shotgun all year on my back in your shotgun scabbard, and it worked great! I was glad to have it around several times, and it proved to be an easy way to keep the shotgun handy for the squad. Thanks for your great product, and for your support of our troops!!

(already the guys are asking who to order one from, so you might be getting a few more requests!!!).

Dear SF company.

Thank-you for sending another t-shirt it looks great the boys in the unit will want one when they see it. I'll be sending them right to you.

Thanks again.

Another happy customer
Bob Miller

When I was stationed at Camp Pendleton I was in Weapons Company 3/5. The unit made us t-shirts with the 3/5 logo/emblem/crest, "Consumate Professionals". I was honorable discharged in 1999 and the t-shirt has been long-gone. I searched a couple of web site to find a shirt with the logo/emblem/crest but there was no luck. It didn't take me long to search this site before I found what I was looking for. When the shirt arrived it was better than what I expected. I love the t-shirt and wear it with pride and often. Thank you SpecialForces.com

Most Sincerely,
Bryan P.

Thank you!!!

Your Shirts are the best.

Andreas

Dear SFG,

Thank you for being so prompt with my order, and the refund as well.

I thought a little constructive thoughts were in order.

The "HRT" boot knife is well constructed. I had to "hone" the edge though, both sides,to get it up to spec.

As for the "GI USMC Combat Knife"......Well, it wasn't really a K-Bar, at least not one that I've ever seen. It read "US", and above that it read "Ontario". No worries though, after I used a ceramic sharpening stone on both the small back edge and the full length edge, I'm quite pleased with them both. Oh, I almost forgot, both were very pretty well balanced.

I'll be purchasing again from you in the near future.

Sincerely,
Ed Whiteside

Dear Special Forces

I received my order i have to say that is better than i expected! Thank you and you'll hear fom me soon.

PARASCHOS

They turned out GREAT!!!!!! Thanks. I will be back for other things.

Steve,

OMG! That looks awesome! Is there any logo on the front? Can I buy these off the website? I'm sure a lot of SWCC guys are going to want these!

Thank you,

Amanda Van Every

Dave,

We love the art work. They are awesome. I'll be ordering mine right after this. Thanks for all the work. I am recommending you guys to all the other battalions and ODA's.

Dave's Message
The Source of a Warrior's Strength
Borrowed strength is weakness.
Acquired strength is power.

For generations, Sparta's Armies of Warriors were shrouded in a myth of invincibility based on the fact they had successfully put down all revolts in the Peloponnesus and they had held the Persians off in the last stand of the 300 at Thermopylae.

After the defeat of Athens in 457 BC. Sparta was the most powerful city among the Greeks, and the Spartans followed an aggressive policy to maintain that status.

Their myth of invincibility had become a self-sustaining psychological weapon projected throughout the Greek world. This was Sparta's first line of defense against all challengers and they were so confident that not even the City of Sparta had defensive fortifications or walls.

However, the essence of the Spartan political system was Statism, which swallowed the lives and fortunes of individuals without regard for their rights; it was enforced ruthlessly from cradle to grave. They felt all should be subservient to them. To sum up the Spartans values in a word it would be "courage" which gave them the illusion of invincibility. This meant in order for Sparta to maintain this illusion of invincibility it needed enemies to conquer. For warriors who base their values on principals of freedom, courage is only a means to an end but with the Spartans it was the end.  However, their myth of invincibility would end during the Theban Wars of 382 through 362 BC.

Spartans neighbors, the Thebans were mostly farmers vastly outnumbered and who seemingly stood no chance against the Spartans. In this fight, the Thebans cause was for freedom and the Spartans' was for subjugation, giving the Thebans the moral high ground.

In the Theban War, the Theban King Epaminondas chose to face off with the Spartan King Agesilaos, one of the most powerful men in the world, putting the life of every Theban on the line. But King Epaminondas was principled, innovative, courageous, and smart and his character was composed of the qualities of freedom, whereas the Spartans only had their myth of invincibility and their idol of courage. As we know from our own history, nothing is more powerful than freedom in the hands of individuals.

King Epaminondas met the full force of the Spartan Infantry, being outnumbered with his small army of farmers, and crushed the Spartans, the most powerful army in the Greek world, at the Battle of Leuktara 371 BC. The key to his success was the Theban Special Forces, called the Sacred Band. It was an innovative group of elite warriors chosen by merit which gave this special unit extra depth and gave the best soldiers a place to bond with other outstanding fighters on the basis of ability rather than birth. The Spartans, chosen by birthright instead of ability, were no match for the Sacred Band, which demonstrated the power of freedom and true innovation. We should take special note of this because in the United States we see our government creating mediocrity by taking away incentive by ignoring merit and hiring people based instead on birth right (race, sex, minorities, etc.) and also imposing the same discrimination in private industry, the very thing that brought the Spartans to their end. Discrimination takes away incentive, merit and reward creating a society of mediocrity. The Theban army of farmers killed the Spartan King and crushed the Spartan Army and so the myth died.  This has to go down in the record books of lopsided victories giving freedom the win.

The real victory over Sparta was not in the demonstration of their defeat in the eyes of their enemies, but in their own realization that they did not live up to the myth. Knowledge is power and self-knowledge is the most efficacious and powerful of all, short of knowledge of God.

In the Military we have a term called the Center of Gravity, which is the one thing that ends the game; like in chess, it is "check-mate"; game over. It is unfortunate that few Americans understand the Center of Gravity in the long protracted War we are currently in, with no real victory in sight and a goal of "how do we get out of this without looking too weak?"

The Spartans Myth of Invincibility was their Center of Gravity and it was shattered, never to return in history again; similar to the defeat of the Japanese in World War II. The Japanese Center of Gravity, to simplify it in my own words, was their blind loyalty to their emperor who they worshiped as a deity, thought was invincible and who was an honor to die for. It took two atom bombs to break the myth, which incidentally not only saved tens of thousands of American men's lives but an estimated 4 million Japanese, if we had proceeded with our plans of invasion. (Some would be quick to suggest an embargo but that to would have cost untold Japanese lives because they were already half-starving and at least 10,000 or more American POWs would have starved to death.) The atom bombs exposed the Emperor as a fraud and not a deity or invincible. A cloud of reality fell over the people of Japan shattering the myth and giving a lasting peace. It was only by identifying and destroying their Center of Gravity that a lasting peace was won. As opposed to what happened with the Germans in WWI who were allowed to return to their country undefeated with their weapons, which meant we would fight them again in WWII where the Center of Gravity was finally achieved.

The Spartans like the Japanese both borrowed their strength and courage from the myth of invincibility, which brings us to our topic.

Acquired Verses Borrowed Strength
The warrior's strength comes from two sources: borrowed strength, which is weakness and acquired strength, which is true power.

Acquired strength is that power which results from truth and humility (teach-ability). Our nation's founders possessed acquired strength and a true moral purpose, "Freedom", which enabled them to win their independence from a great empire capable of destroying them; England was bankrupt of moral purpose.

Borrowed strength is a weakness of the warrior who becomes dependent on false ideologies along with the apparent strength and alleged wisdom from others.

The implications are obvious. Could you become knowledgeable by borrowing the answers to the questions on your test from the guy next to you or do you acquire knowledge through study and concentration. One can gain strength through absolute truth and good decisions or he can borrow it and acquire a false strength. If you use self-determination to acquire strength you will truly be strong. If you choose to borrow strength you will be a loser.

Here are some characteristics of the warrior who borrows strength:
  1. Chooses to socialize with the wrong crowd. Deceived by evil companions with their corrupt morals.
  2. Takes bad advice.
  3. Goes through life being influenced by people rather then by absolute truth.
  4. Never has an original thought.
  5. Always depends on the counsel of others.
  6. Uses others as a crutch.
  7. Uses someone else's scale of values.
  8. Never establishes priorities through absolute knowledge and truth.
  9. Depends on vices like drugs, alcohol etc. for comfort and courage.
  10. Acquires strength from emotions born out of a battle for the warrior and even for others, rap music, etc.
  11. Depends on others, circumstances or things for happiness rather than inner peace.
  12. If you want to put on muscle and get fit you do not send someone else to the gym to exercise for you; that would be borrowed strength and you cannot use borrowed physical strength. You have to decide for yourself on an exercise program and do it.
  13. Is never consistent, never follows things through and changes plans continually.
"In the confrontation between the stream and the rock, the stream always wins--not through strength but by perseverance."

-H. Jackson Brown

To achieve acquired strength:

You have to relate self-determination and your choices to what you do, not to what others do. You must make daily and consistent decisions to expose yourself to truth, knowledge and new skills learning and practicing; no one else can do it for you. One of the characteristics of a warrior is to "Live and Learn".

The mature warrior has learned that energy with no ability spells trouble and arrogance. He must be careful to expend his energies on the right things in a balanced manner, knowing what is worthwhile and what is not. He knows that life is about priorities and balancing his time among them. There is a time for God, a time for training, a time for family, a time for fun, a time to fight, a time to restrain, a time to speak up, a time to listen and so on.

The mature warrior is careful of the company he keeps and knows most people judge one by a person's friends and associates; the mature warrior looks further also including one's enemies in his evaluation. Your associates will either pull you up or pull you down with them.

"There are two ways of exerting one's strength:
one is pushing down, the other is pulling up."

-Booker T. Washington

T.E. Lawrence understood the difference between borrowed strength and acquired strength and used it on the battlefield.

T. E. Lawrence was a famous British soldier who advised, led and fought along side the Arabs against the Turks in World War I. He was a master of irregular and guerrilla warfare. He had the ability to quickly see and analyze strengths and weaknesses and use them to his advantage, which he did with both his own forces and the enemies. He turned the Arabs weaknesses, which created uncertainty, into a strength that created deception and surprise combined with their mobility on Camels against the Turks. Then he turned the strength of the Turks, which was fixed fortifications, logistics, armament, unity, discipline and the usual things that comprise a conventional military force into a weakness, causing their defeat and the end of the Ottoman Empire.

In other words, in the Arab campaign he applied a theory which inverted conventional military doctrine in such a way as to convert Arab weaknesses into strengths and Turkish strengths into weaknesses.

In warrior language, he accomplishes this by looking at his enemies' strength and then finds what the strength depends on giving him the weakness and then doing the same with his weakness to see how it can be used as strength.

T.  E.  Lawrence left a message to all warriors in freedom from possessiveness, in freedom from competitiveness, in freeing oneself from ambition, especially from the lust of power. His strength and power sprang from knowledge and understanding, not position.

"When we are strong, we are always much greater
than the things that happen to us."

-Thomas Merton

T.  E.  Lawrence once remarked that "lack of independent courage" is the root fault of the military system. Analysis of history would suggest that it is the main cause of military failure. When a soldier is new to combat and conventionally trained and disciplined he is apt to feel uneasy, if not helpless, unless he is in a herd where he finds safety in numbers. But war often brings frequent shocks that disintegrate the mass and throw the individual on his own resources. This is a defining moment for a warrior to mature to that next level and draw his strength from his inner resources. If he only has borrowed strength he will be unable to cope with the emergency. This is why acquired strength is so important to the warrior especially for leaders and Special Operations soldiers, where a warrior is often thrust into a situation where he must function on his own resources.

"And each man stands with his face in the light of his own drawn sword. Ready to do what a hero can."

-Elizabeth Barrett Browning

The Source of a Warrior's Strength should always come from acquired strength, which is true power for the warrior, and he should avoid borrowing strength, which is weakness. The same is true for our nation. A nation's strength ultimately consists in what it can do on its own and its weaknesses come from its dependencies on foreign resources.

The real story of the Iraq withdrawal

Travis, Gunner & MizellHey, everybody I just wanted to send a quick update and give Yall the REAL story on what's going on over here with the troop withdrawal.  The picture is of my crew and I on a break during a mission.  The guy to the far left is my gunner (Burks) and the guy in the middle is my driver (Mizell).  They go with me on every mission and are great guys.

The reason I'm sending this out is because I have had a few people ask if I left Iraq early because all of the combat troops are out of Iraq and I wanted to let everyone know the real deal.  It's kind of ridiculous how the news is saying that the last of the "combat" troops are out of Iraq because of Pres Obama.  He says that it was his campaign promise.  Take our Brigade for example.  We were originally called a HBCT (Heavy Brigade Combat Team).  Well since Obama said he would pull all of the "combat" troops out by Aug all they did before we left was change our name from a HBCT to a AAB (Advise and Assist Brigade).  We have the same personnel/ equipment layout as before and are doing the same missions.  The ONLY difference is that they changed our name from a HBCT to an AAB and that's how he is getting away with saying that he has pulled all of the "combat" troops out.  It is really ridiculous what he's doing and he has ticked alot of people off.  And it's funny how the media is buying all of it, too.  So no the last combat troops are not out of Iraq we are still here.  There are other Brigades just like ours that are doing the same missions that are still over here.  Sorry for going on about it but we are just sitting over here watching it and are like "You've got to be kidding me!"  So anyway now you know the REAL story so that's why I'm not coming back early.  You have to watch those liberals, their sneaky!  Anyways, I hope everyone is doing well and I'll see you soon!

Travis

Salvation

I assume that if you are reading this article you are already a believer in Jesus Christ.  Most unbelievers will not take the time to read pieces about God or the Bible. So, to you I say congratulations for becoming a member of the royal family of God. As an ambassador for Christ the following information is critical for your understanding. However, if you happen to be an unbeliever or are unsure of your salvation, let me make it clear what God's plan of salvation is for you.

Acts 16:31  Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved...

Acts 4:12  And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.

Acts 2:21  And it shall be that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

John 14:6  Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father but by me."

John 3:16 For God loved the world so much, that He gave His only begotten[uniquely born] Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

John 3:17-19 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.  He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten [uniquely born] Son of God.

John 3:36  He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the [command to believe in the] Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.

Salvation is a gift from God.  It requires no merit or work of any kind on your part.  You simply accept the gift from God by believing in Jesus Christ.

Eph 2;8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

John 1;12  But as many as received Him, to them He gave the power to become  sons of God, even to those who believe in His name, Jesus Christ did the work for your salvation.  He alone receives the glory for that work.  Too many well meaning Christians will tell you that you have to give up something, or do this, or that, or change your language, or appearance. These are sincere people but, they are sincerely wrong.  They are sincere liars.  Pay attention to what the Bible says and forget all the do good garbage you hear from well meaning, sweet people.

Rom 5:8  But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died [as a substitute] for us.

Jesus Christ is eternal God. He is the creator of the universe. He is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.  Jesus Christ in eternity past voluntarily agreed to submit to the Father's plan and become a man, live a perfect life and die in our place.  Each of us deserves to die; he became our substitute and died for us.

While He was on the cross God the Father gathered up every sin of every man, woman, and child, past, present and future and imputed them to Christ.  Then the Father judged each and every one of those sins.  When this great work was accomplished, Jesus Christ said "finished" the work was complete. Nothing else was required.  The perfect justice and righteousness of God had been satisfied.  The perfect humanity of Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins.  Then He was buried.  Three days later He was resurrected.  That is good news.  And His resurrection is a guarantee of your future resurrection.

It is the epitome of arrogance to try to add something to God's completed work.  Picture yourself on a jumbo jet from New York to Los Angeles.  You're cruising at thirty-eight thousand feet, zipping through the air at six hundred MPH and you suddenly get the urge to help.  You ring for the flight attendant.  When she arrives you tell her that you want to help.  Please inform the pilot that you wish to exit the aircraft because you are now going outside to push. Trying to help God is even more ludicrous than trying to push a jumbo jet that is already flying.

1 Peter 3:18   For Christ also died for sins once and for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;

Worse than the well meaning, ignorant, Christians trying to tell you to live a good life for salvation, is you thinking you can figure it out for yourself, doing what you think is right.  What are you thinking?  Did God impart some special knowledge in your soul?  I can guarantee whatever you come up with will be wrong.

Proverbs 14:12  There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.

You have a choice. God will never force you to accept Him. He believes in maximum freedom and responsibility of the individual.  He will never coerce you.  He is definitely not part of the nanny state.  However, He will extend the gift of eternal life to you for as long as you are alive.  If you choose not to think about your eternal destiny, or decide not to make a decision, then that is your decision of rejection of Christ.
If you think that some other religion fits you better, then you have rejected God's plan of salvation. You have sealed your doom.

Acts 4:12  And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.

John 3:36 He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the [command to believe in the] Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.

Dear Friend,

I wish I could sit down with you face to face. But for now, all I can do is hope and pray that you'll read this letter. My name is Scott Behenna and my wife, Vicki, and I have been blessed with three sons. Our oldest boy is lLT Michael Behenna, an Airborne Army Ranger with the famous 101st Airborne. I've sent you a photo of him today.

When Michael left for his first tour of duty in Iraq, I was so proud to be his dad ... and proud to be an American. Now, I'm just scared. Because for killing an al Oaeda operative during combat duty in Iraq, Michael has been sentenced to 15 years in prison. Please - let me explain what happened.

On April 21, 2008, a roadside bombing killed two soldiers in Michael's platoon.

A few weeks later, Michael and his platoon detained an al Qaeda operative by the name of Ali Mansur Mohammed in connection with the bombing. Michael decided to conduct a field interrogation of Mansur to find out the names of
the other terrorists involved. During the interrogation, Ali Mansur threw a rock at Michael's head. Then he stood up and tried to take away Michael's pistol. Michael fired immediately, striking Ali Mansur in the chest and then in the head. It all happened in the blink of an eye.

Michael has replayed that moment in his mind a million times. But he knows he did the right thing. Our soldiers are trained to make instantaneous "life or death" decisions in the heat of combat. They don't have the luxury of letting down their guard for even a minute. But the military didn't see it that way and decided to charge Michael with the "premeditated murder" of Ali Mansur. Vicki and I were in shock. But we trusted that the Army would give our son a fair trial and send him home to us.
Instead, seven non-infantry officers second-guessed Michael's actions and handed down a "guilty" verdict at his trial last February. It was the most horrifying moment of my life. Or so I thought. You see, the same day that Michael was convicted, the government's very own forensic witness notified prosecutors that he had evidence that would help Michael. He believed Michael's testimony and was willing to testify that Michael's account of the incident was the only "logical explanation" for Ali Mansur's death.

Yet the prosecution never told Michael's attorney about this evidence. As you can imagine, Michael's attorney immediately filed a motion for mistrial. And do you know what the military judge did when he found out that the government had tried to hide this crucial evidence? He refused to grant Michael a new trial. Even though this witness is proof that the government tried to hide evidence that supports Michael's testimony.
Vicki and I were sickened. Our son risked his life to defend the u.s. Constitution -- which guarantees every u.s.citizen the right to a fair trial.

Yet now my son is being denied that very right!

My friend, Michael is only 25 years old. I've had so many hopes and dreams for his future. To watch him marry and start a family of his own. To hold my grandchildren and tell them stories of when Michael was their age. Now those dreams have been destroyed. Michael is sitting in Fort Leavenworth Prison. And if he's forced to serve his entire sentence, he will be 40 years old by the time he's released. Is this the thanks my son gets for risking his life to serve his country? A court-martial and a jail sentence for a crime he didn't commit? Our attorney has vowed to continue fighting and is preparing an appeal based on this new evidence. But the odds are stacked against us.The government has unlimited taxpayer dollars to spend in its case against Michael. But Michael has been court-martialed and stripped of his Army pay and pension. Which means it's up to Vicki and me to come up with thousands of dollars for legal bills.

My friend, we are not wealthy people. We have already taken out a second mortgage on our home to pay for Michael's defense. But the bills continue to pile up for attorney's fees and legal expenses. Someone once told me that when "God closes a door, He always opens a window." And I believe that "window" is the United American Patriots (UAP). A retired Marine by the name of Major Bill Donahue founded UAP when he heard that innocent U.S. Marines and Army soldiers were being scapegoated for their split-second actions in combat. Now they are helping to fund Michael's appeal and pay all the legal bills from the original trial. Major Donahue and his patriotic UAP volunteers don't even take a salary for their hard work. They view it as a debt of honor to the young men like Michael who have risked their lives for America -- and are being thrown in prison just for doing what they were trained to do in combat!

UAP has already paid $8,000 toward our legal debt -- but there are still  $100,000 in bills to payoff. And that doesn't include the appeal and potential new trial if the appeal is successful. That's why I'm going to ask you a question I never dreamed I'd have to: Could you send your very best contribution to the United American Patriot's Warrior Fund today to help fund Michael's appeal?

UAP is a non-profit organization, which means they must rely on the generosity of American patriots like you to fund their vital programs. It also means that your gift of any amount is tax-deductible. Our attorney tells us that the appeal process will take at least a year. Which means another year of legal bills while Michael sits alone in prison away from his family -- scared to death that he will be forgotten by the American people. I can't let that happen.

I've promised Michael that I won't let folks forget him. And that's why I'm writing you today.

My friend, I know we have never met. But if you believe that U.S. soldiers like Michael who have risked their lives to serve our country deserve better than this, I hope youlll send your gift of $35 or $50 to United American Patriots today. Remember, the government's own expert witness believes that my son's testimony is the only "logical explanation" for the shooting. Unfortunately, the government doesn't want that to come out in court -- and they have  unlimited tax dollars to spend against us.

Now we must rely solely on the hearts of patriotic Americans like you. On behalf of Michael and the entire Behenna family, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generous support.

Scott Behenna

P.S. Michael had a chance to plead guilty to a lesser charge before the trial, but he told me, "Dad, I didn't do anything wrong and I'm not going to say I did just to get the charges reduced." Now you know why I'm so proud of my son, and why I'm hoping and praying you'll help him and other innocent soldiers who need UAP's support right now.

Thank you again!

Dear Fire Service Businesses

Hello Everyone. I have either been given your email addresses from coworkers or from websites online. I am a firefighter/medic in a suburb of Chicago.

For the past two years, I have adopted 4 platoons overseas...all in Iraq. I have sent them care packages filled with pictures, letters, snacks, games, books...pretty much anything they ask for. Thankfully, all of my troops are now home safe. I have just recently adopted 2 more!! Yay! Both are in Afghanistan. I love sending them packages because even the littlest things from HOME are appreciated by them. You realize  that you take for granted the simple things like how good Oreos taste or how amazing a nice shower is on a hot day or how it is to hug your family at the end if the day. This experience has made me thankful everyday for my freedoms and makes me want to do anything I can over here for our men and women over there.

I was thinking of things to send them other than the normal snacks and what not. And after reading their blogs and emails, they are all looking for things such as:
Safety glasses, sunglasses, work gloves (extrication or other types), knives, flashlights, tools...things like this.

If the companies you work for are able to donate such items so I can include them in my care packages, that would be so amazing. Just something unexpected and different for our Troops. If you would like to help out then contact me.

Thanks for your time. Take Care. Be safe.

Sincerely,
Jessica Maples

PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) and TBI (traumatic brain Injury) are 2 of the fastest growing medical problems facing the active duty military and veterans alike. (Hbot) Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is a proven medical treatment that greatly benefits those stricken with these disorders.

I am working to support treatment being provided by Ray Cralle, at no cost to selected veterans in urgent need of this therapy. I am asking for donations to support the cost of housing, transportation and feeding our wounded warriors while they are in treatment.

HopeSpringsInc.org is a nonprofit organization that will provide the assistance to our fellow veterans, while in the 30 day treatment cycle at oxygenrescuecarecentersofamerica.com; Tax deductable donations may be made on line at HopeSpringsInc.orgor mailed directly to me at 16792 West Calder Drive Loxahatchee,FL. 33470 made payable to Hope Springs, Inc. To be sure the donations are applied to military veterans, please put US VET NET in the memo of your check or mention it online.

We have veterans in treatment currently and others waiting to be treated as soon as funds become available, so your swift action to this need will be greatly appreciated. I have witnessed this therapy first hand and the relief it may bring to those with these disorders. I may be contacted directly with any further questions or general information.

Please pass this email along to all in your organization, corporation and email contacts. Together we can and will make a difference in the lives of those that have served our country.

Until they all come home...

To whom this shall concern,

My name is Tyler Stokes and I am a current junior at the Caldwell Early College High School. This year I have to work on my Graduation Project and I have chosen the topic of firefighting.  I am planning on doing a fundraiser event to raise money for Gamewell Fire Department for a part of my project.  My plan is to sell hotdog/ hamburger plates to the community and also have an auction for any items that I can get to be donated. All of the money that is raised from this event will go to assist the Gamewell Fire Department.  From this, they would purchase new equipment that they will be able to use on calls. If you could please contribute anything to help me out with my project it would be greatly appreciated. Below is all of my contact information if you wish to contact me.

Thank you,
Tyler Stokes

I'm writing today to seek your help in donations of any hiking gear and or clothing that our Boy Scouts could use for attending The Boy Scout High Adventure Camp "Philmont".

The Philmont Adventure Camp is truly a once in a lifetime adventure. Each year the Scouts compete to have a chance at attending Philmont. Last year we were fortunate enough to have our Troop selected for Philmont the summer of 2011.
Our Boy Scout Troop (Troop 108) is located in Humboldt Iowa where I serve as Assistant Scoutmaster. We have formed a Crew ( Crew 7) of seven Scouts and three adults that are preparing for next summers trip. While at Philmont the Crew will spend eleven days hiking 50 plus miles in the wilderness of New Mexico. Our Scouts range in age 14-18 years old.

As you can imagine this is a very expensive trip for Our Scouts but, we believe the memories they will experience will be well worth It. The Camp alone is $750.00 per Scout plus the transportation from Iowa to N .M. and back. After receiving word of our acceptance this past summer our Crew has been very busy with fund raisers to support the cost of the trip. We have sold Ice Cream at may town and county events, and we are now getting ready to have a donation breakfast at our church.

With a little luck we should be able to pay for at least some of the Scouts registration fees prior to next summer. Now we are looking into all the hiking gear and clothing that they will be required to have. We would greatly appreciate any hiking gear or clothing that you could donate to our Crew for next years Philmont trip.

Thanks for your time.

A Warrior's Wisdom
A Warrior's Wisdom

Admirals and Generals Win Wars
and Presidents Lose Wars

To achieve victory you must have a vision for victory and put that vision into action.

Some great examples in our history of men who won wars and had visions were George Washington and Abraham Lincoln they both had vision and acted on it.

In more modern history two presidents that had vision although I did not agree with their ideologies were presidents Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Roosevelt. They both marshaled the industrial complex to win World War I and II.

In more recent history, we have Harry Truman and Lyndon B. Johnson. Neither had the desire to achieve victory, and had no vision of a successful completion to the war. Their lack of vision cost us victory, and we are still paying the price to this day for their failure.

You must have vision for victory.

"The first qualification in a general-in-chief is a cool head, that is, a head which receives just impressions, and estimates things and objects at their real value. HE must not allow himself to be elated by good news or depressed by bad. . . . Some men . . . raise up a picture in the mind on every slight occasion, and give to every trivial occurrence a dramatic interest. But whatever knowledge, or talent, or courage, or other good qualities such men may possess, nature has not formed them for the command of armies or the direction of great military operations."

Famous Speeches
Douglas MacArthur Speech in Houston Texas
Flag Day June 14, 1951

MacArthur discusses and revisits the determination to take charge of the country. One cannot blame the Communist for all our ills, there is enough blame to go around to all of us unless we take charge by counterbalancing all the forces that tend to have us drift into apathy when sound spiritual urge is capable of overcoming the inroads of Communism and our temptation to treat others to force the changes necessary to the infallible reminder that our greatest faith should rest upon two mighty symbols - the Cross and the Flag.

FLAG DAY - RICE INSTITUTE STADIUM
June 14, 1951
HOUSTON, TEXAS

I am profoundly grateful for the opportunity you have given me to be with you in Houston and to see with my own eyes the magnitude of your civic progress since last I was in the Heart of Texas. You stand in the vanguard of the almost incredible material advance of our great Nation. I could wish that every American might capture the true picture as I see it of the immeasurable spiritual, physical and material strength inherent in our people. IL was never more deeply inspired - never more confident that we have so relatively progressed that no nation nor combination of nations can offer a serious threat to our security. Yet, strangely, I find prevalent throughout the land a feeling of fear generated by the constant but false propaganda that we are weak - that we are not prepared to defend against any who may attack - that, against our every inclination and tradition, we must appease and compromise to encourage others to desist from attacking. These could be no greater illusion - no surer incitation to attack us - than the lack of confidence we thus show in ourselves. Why should we lose the courage and self-assurance with which we have met and overcome the threat of every past crisis in our history? Our Nation is young and virile and our future is still before us. Let no man tell you that we are old and decadent and tottering on the verge of national collapse. All that I have seen since my return is the contrary. All that I have seen points to the fact that we were never so strong, either individually or collectively.

It is not threat of extended attack that we have reason for fear. It is from those insidious forces working from within. It is they that create the basis for fear by spreading false propaganda designed to destroy those moral precepts to which we have clung for direction since the immutable declaration of independence became the great charter of our liberty.

This campaign to pervert the truth and shape or confuse the public mind with its consequent weakening of moral courage is not chargeable entirely to Communists engaged in a centrally controlled world-wide conspiracy to destroy all freedom. For they have many allies, here as elsewhere who blind to reality, ardently support the general Communist aims while reacting violently to the mere suggestion that they do so. There are those who subvert morality as the means to gain or entrench power. There are those who believing themselves liberal, chart a course which can but lead to destruction. There are those cynically inclined whose restless impulse is ever seeking change. There are those who are constantly trying to alter our basic concepts of freedom and human rights. There are those who seek to prevent men from fearlessly speaking their minds according to the dictates of their conscience. There are those who plan to limit our individual right to share in the sovereign power of the people. There are those who seek to subvert government people. There are those who seek to subvert government from being the guardian of the people's rights, to make of it an instrument of despotic power. There are those who plan to alter the constitutional checks and balances established to preserve the integrity of our coordinate branches. There are those who seek to make the burden of taxation so great and the progressive increase so alarming that the spirit of adventure, tireless energy and masterful initiative which built the material strength of the Nation shall become stultified and inert. There are those who seek to make all men servants of the state. There are those who seek to change our system of free enterprise which, whatever its faults, commands the maximum of energy from human resource and provides the maximum of benefits in human happiness and contentment. There are those who seek to convert us to a form of socialistic endeavor leading directly to the path of Communist slavery.

As a counter-balance to those forces is the deep spiritual urge in the hearts of our people - a spiritual urge capable of arousing and directing a decisive and impelling public opinion. This, indeed, is the great safeguard and resource of America. So long as it exists we are secure for it holds us to the path of reason. It is an infallible reminder that our greatest hope and faith rests upon two mighty symbols - the Cross and the Flag; the one based upon those immutable teachings which provide the spiritual strength to persevere along the course which is just and right - the other based upon the invincible will that human freedom shall not perish from the earth. These are the mighty bulwarks against the advance of those atheistic predatory forces which seek to destroy the spirituality of the human mind and to enslave the human body.

On this day annually set apart for all Americans to repledge their allegiance to the Flag and to the Republic for which it stands let us pray for the spiritual strength and innate wisdom to keep this Nation to the course of freedom charted by our fathers to preserve it as the mighty instrument on earth to bring universal order out of existing chaos; to restore liberty where liberty has perished; and to reestablish human dignity where dignity has been suppressed.

Let me again thank this great metropolis for the warmth of its almost overwhelming reception of Mrs.MacArthur and myself. In this southland we both are indeed at home, but you have etched a new memory for us which we can never forget.

GENERAL MACARTHUR
Aesop's Fables
The Father and His Sons

A father had a family of sons who were perpetually quarreling among themselves. When he failed to heal their disputes by his exhortations, he determined to give them a practical illustration of the evils of disunion; and for this purpose he one day told them to bring him a bundle of sticks. When they had done so, he placed the faggot into the hands of each of them in succession, and ordered them to break it in pieces. They tried with all their strength, and were not able to do it. He nest opened the faggot, took the sticks separately, one by one, and again put them into his sons' hands, upon which they broke them easily. He then addressed them in these words: "My sons, if you are of one mind, and united to assist each other, you will be as this faggot, uninjured by all the attempts of your enemies, but if you are divided among yourselves, you will be broken as easily as these sticks."

Divide and conquer has been used and has worked effectively through out human history

Quotes & Jokes
"Now it doesn't require expropriation or confiscation of private property or business to impose socialism on a people. What does it mean whether you hold the deed or the title to your business or property if the government holds the power of life and death over that business or property? And such machinery already exists. The government can find some charge to bring against any concern it chooses to prosecute. Every businessman has his own tale of harassment. Somewhere a perversion has taken place. Our natural, unalienable rights are now considered to be a dispensation of government, and freedom has never been so fragile, so close to slipping from our grasp as it is at this moment."
-Ronald Reagan

"A just security to property is not afforded by that government under which unequal taxes oppress one species of property and reward another species."

"In reality there is perhaps no one of our natural Passions so hard to subdue as Pride. Disguise it, struggle with it, beat it down, stifle it, mortify it as much as one pleases, it is still alive, and will now and then peek out and show itself."

"It is too early for politicians to presume on our forgetting that the public good, the real welfare of the great body of the people, is the supreme object to be pursued; and that no form of government whatever has any other value than as it may be fitted for the attainment of this object."

To do so would, in my judgment, be contrary to the letter and spirit of the Constitution and subversive of the whole theory upon which the Union of these States is founded."

Clichs of Socialism
Clichs of Socialism
"The free market ignores the poor."

Once an activity has been socialized for a spell, nearly everyone will concede that that's the way it should be.

Without socialized education, how would the poor get their schooling? Without the socialized post office, how would farmers receive their mail except at great expense? Without social security, the aged would end their years in poverty! If power and light were not socialized, consider the plight of the poor families in the Tennessee Valley!

Agreement with the idea of state absolutism follows socialization, appallingly. Why? One does not have to dig very deep for the answer.

Once an activity has been socialized, it is impossible to point out, by concrete example, how men in a free market could better conduct it. How, for instance, can one compare a socialized post office with private postal delivery when the latter has been outlawed? It's something like trying to explain to a people accustomed only to darkness how things would appear were there light. One can only resort to imaginative construction.

To illustrate the dilemma: During recent years, men in free and willing exchange (the free market) have discovered how to deliver the human voice around the earth in one twenty-seventh of a second how to deliver an event, like a ball game, into everyone's living room, in color and in motion, at the time it is going on, how to deliver115 people from Los Angeles to Baltimore In 3 hours and 19 minutes, how to deliver gas from a hole in Texas to a range In New York at low cost and without subsidy, how to deliver 64 ounces of oil from the Persian Gulf to our Eastern Seaboard-more than half-way around the earth-for less money than government will deliver a one-ounce letter across the street in one's home town. Yet, such commonplace free market phenomena as these, in the field of delivery, fail to convince most people that "the post office" could be left to free market delivery without causing many people to suffer.

Now, then, resort to imagination: Imagine that our federal government, at its very inception had issued an edict totting the effect that all boys and girls, from birth to adulthood, were to receive shoes and stockings from the federal government "for free." Next, imagine that this practice of "for free" shoes and stockings had been going on for 173 years! Lastly, imagine one of our contemporaries-one with a faith in the wonders that can be wrought by men when free-saying,
"I do not believe that shoes and stocking for kids should be a government responsibility. Properly, that is a responsibility of the family. This activity should never have been socialized. It is appropriately a free market activity."

What, under these circumstances, would be the response to such a stated belief? Based on what we hear on every hand, once an activity has been socialized for a short time, the common chant would go like this, "Ah, but you would let the poor children go unshod."

However, in this instance, where the activity has not yet been socialized, we are able to point out that the poor children are better shod in countries where shoes and stockings are a family responsibility than in countries where they are a government responsibility. We are able to demonstrate that the poor children are better shod in countries that are more free than in countries that are less free.

True, the free market ignores the poor precisely as it does not recognize the wealth-it is "no respecter of persons." It is an organizational way of doing things, featuring openness, which enables millions of people to cooperate and compete without demanding a preliminary clearance of pedigree, nationality, color, race, religion, or wealth. It demands only that each person abide by voluntary principles, that is, by fair play. The free market means willing exchange; it is impersonal justice in the economic sphere and excludes coercion, plunder, theft, protectionism, and other anti-free market ways by which goods and services change hands. It opens the way for mortals to act morally because they are free to act morally.

Admittedly, human nature is defective, and its imperfections will be reflected in the market. But the free market opens the way for men to cooperate at their moral best, and all observation confirms that the poor fare better under these circumstances than when the way is closed as it is under socialism.

What Has Really Changed?
What Has Really Changed?
1952

There is no such thing as
profit before taxes

Some left-wing labor leaders and bureaucrats are telling you that business can pay wage increases out of profits without raising prices. And they quote the "profits" of the companies or industries they are talking about.

They do not tell you that the "profit" they quote is before taxes are paid, and any beginning bookkeeper knows that such a figure means nothing. You might as well give a figure of "profits before wages' or "profits before bills are paid," because taxes are every bit as much a bill as any other.

No company has a profit until all its bills are paid. And most of that so-called profit which is left has to go to buy new machinery, or else next year or the year after competition will have cut into that business so badly there will be no profit-and soon no jobs and no taxes. That's why the tax collector and the labor leader should be the first to help a company made a profit, instead of destroy it.
