From the gang at Special Forces Gear!
It was 1973 and I was serving as a 72B (Commo) in the 19th SFG(A) out of Camp Williams Utah, we were on a snow patrol using skis that haven't seen the light of day since WWII. The leather bindings were falling off of my feet so I plummeted down a heavily snow covered hill and finally came to rest near a tree trunk when I finally got up I looked like a child-built snowman. Wished I had a picture of that. When I regained my stance and composure I used some rope to secure my feet to the ski-like things. Now I used them as snowshoes then I was able to reclimb to the top where my team was waiting. Everyone had a good laugh.
Always, always start off with the right tools for the right job!
