Working at a government facility I was forced to sit through countless security and force protection briefs to the point I thought I knew everything and didn't need any more training on the subject. That was until I was walking out of the front gate at my unit and a man exited an SUV across the sidewalk, walked in my direction, then handed me a tennis ball. I didnt know why he gave me the ball and I had it in my hand before I even thought about what might be going on. Then I looked down. Sticking out of the ball was a fuse and under that I could barely make out the mixture of match heads, gun powder, and nails. I don't think Roger Clemens could have thrown a ball harder and farther than I did that day. Definately Major League status.
Not missing a beat I took the guy to the ground and yelled for some nearby security guards. Turns out he found the homemade exposive on a nature trail and had picked it up in an effort to protect other hikers. Too bad he never considered his own safety... or mine.
