The 1st Marine Division was cut off and surrounded by hundreds of thousands of Chinese Communist troops (22 divisions) in the Chosin Reservoir region, North Korea. the commander a 52 year old, 32 year U.S. Marine, in the process of winning His 5th Navy Cross was Colonel Lewis B. (Chesty) Puller.when told of their situation Colonel Puller replied.
