Are there any fitness requirements for Delta or do you just join the force?

Physical Requirements

Postby Commando 9767 » Tue Jul 18, 2006 7:59 pm

There are many physical tests for Delta Force.

These are just a few:

40-yard inverted crawl in 25 seconds;37 situps in 1 minute;33 pushups in 1 minute;2-mile run in 16 min.30 sec.;and a 100-meter swim fully clothed and wearing boots. After that is an 18-mile speed march with no expected time given. If you make it this far,you must then complete a 40-mile land navigation course over rugged terrain with a 55-pound rucksack in 20 hours.

The swimming with boots on is probably killer.

The other stuff... running, hiking, push-ups and sit-ups sound like fun.

There is a book out titled: The Hooah Schools. It will give you the basic PT requirements for the school.Good luck. There is nothing easy about Delta.

I would have expected something a bit more difficult as far as push ups and sit ups go for getting into Delta Force. As far as I see, I am qualified for delta force, as I have done most of the requirements, though I onyl did a 10 mile speed-march, and I was dead; really I still wear a gravestone on my head cause I still feel the effects.

Do not be decieved by these few physical requirements listed here, that passing selection for Delta is anywhere near that easy. In the scope of all that is required in counter-terrorism at the level of Delta Force, the physical training is only the beginning.

Don't worry, I realize that their physical requirements are only a fraction of what it takes, I a merely suprised that the physical requirements are as they are.

Yes, theres a lot more to it than pumping out some push ups. That's merely to see if you should be considered.

Delta

Postby slick#2 » Sun Jun 24, 2007 5:45 am

Well, I have never attened a selection for Delta, but I know our SWAT selection read basically the same as the Delta selection PT basics and it was a pretty touch test. I cant imagine Delta being "easy." If so people like Oprah might join. Lol. Anyway, read "Inside Delta Force." It gives a brief look into it. I know there is a lot more there though. But hey, good luck to you.

Delta selection is no joke.
Some one said, delta selection is easy.

Those minimum requirements for push ups/sit ups and other are just that.
Make sure you think of 3-4 hrs of sleep a night, executing different tasks with a ruck. Going through water, over hills, chasing a next land nav point 5-9 clicks out where 1-2 degree off (with compass) will throw you off your point 100-200meters. Your feet will suffer, you wont be able to walk...you got to cross a river to get to your next point...with ruck on your back with no sleep, little food and your feet hurting....

why dont you start with Basic, Ranger school, and work your way up to SF and and then Delta.

good luck...

Endurance is the key. (dont have to be this huge body builder - but have strength). Rucking and getting your feet used to is good way to train. Run 20-30 miles a week. Swim. Lift. become fast and tiredless.

Delta is different animal.

Take it easy

Baby steps

What makes Delta selection the most difficult, according to those who have made it, is that it comes down to what you're made of mentally, and emotionally, to the point that it can be more demanding than the physical requirements.
